Link to last post on Loch of the Lowes – April 2018
Summary of the season so far:
LF15/Lassie arrived back 20 March and LM12/Laddie on 29 March. The pair are currently incubating three eggs - #1 laid 14 April, #2 laid 16 April and #3 on 19 April and are due to hatch later this month.
Another brief sighting, with vocal :)
It's not worth struggling to get a snap because, altho the video shows it more clearly (but bent over) you can't tell what it is in a still pic.
IMAGICAT
With the sound turned up...on live cam, anyone else get short bursts of sounds of what appear to be rubbing of stout wood against stout wood, maybe under the strain of some binding. If I was lassie, I would be nipping and getting some sort of wood lubrication.
Fish arrived...are we going to see first bobblehead feed yet? Also think this may be Laddies first sighting of the chick...if lassie gets up!!!

I won't have it - the stream dropped out without telling me :( Usually I get a kinda boom, but nothing this time.
Oops! I knew I came here to do something - it was to show Lassie's "How dare you?!" look ;)
Is that someone's feather sticking up from the bottom?
I think that feather is a trapped discarded one Scylla...not actually attached to a bird. It has been there some hours.
Eventually Lassie got up to show Laddie the new offspring...but not until several minutes ( like about 4 mins ) patient waiting by Laddie. She was soon back down to protect and incubate again though,, and has still not touched the fish, which sits on the back of the nest currently.Laddie has left....to no doubt a perch nearby.

and here was my attempt, with shell and showing little ones back...
and 11.00
Laddie arrives she lifts and eats a bit of fish, but straight back..

13-51 FISHWill new chick get its first fish feed?Answer currently seems to be..... Not just yet!!Edit: 14-24 Chick takes its first bit of fish :-)
Alarm calls from Laddie and can hear chick chunkerling Both gone quiet now Is it possible that the little chick recognises alarm calls? Perhaps not Laddie alarming again but chick is quiet
