Our last view of EJ on Sunday included an entrancing landscape lit (info from Helen) by a full moon, with Jupiter below. (by Limpy)And now she is faceplanted into the nest, looking exhausted. © RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx WildYesterday saw her receiving one smallish long fish in late afternoon, and either consuming it quickly or dropping it. In any case she returned quickly to the nest. We all hope for more substantial and earlier deliveries for our Queen, or we will definitely be continuing to call him Junior.
Another event involved what seemed to be a male osprey, Blue Darvic NW3, caught expertly by the sharp-eyed Moffer (video by scylla), trying to land on the nest and being flapped away by EJ. Later, osprey alarm chirps were heard from afar. Maybe GJ chased off the intruder.
I leave with the most recent capture of the minute. It is tiring to raise a new generation and train a new mate at the same time...she rocks on the eggs in her sleep.© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild_______________________________________The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter, though—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. This white blob seems to be moving about....!
16.40 more chips from GJ. He gets up to check the eggs, chipping all the while...
Birdie's DU Summaries 2018 https://www.imagicat.com/
He checks the eggs, trying to get comfortable, his talons well curled in. Good boy! And settles
Alarm chirps from GJ. EJ's back with just the tail end of fish. GJ takes it and EJ alarm chirps.
Ooooh. Is there an intruder. Yikes. yes 16.52 GJ was watching someone flying overhead, made the loud intruder squeals....
EJ has returned. They exchange contact pips and GJ flies off with the fish tail!
EJ intruder calls.... it has gone, and EJ settles on the eggs. I didn't notice where GJ flew to
Thanks for all pics and vids. Delighted to see he brought EJ a fish and a decent sized one too
What a good boy George has been this afternoon, a big fish and sat on the nest for 3 hours, all the while pipping at the eggs as he turned them and speaking to EJ, he is really doing great, hope he keeps up he fish deliveries now.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Osprey flying right to left in the back ground. And again. Oh, it's GJ making sure the intruder has gone away.
GJ is back....and flown
A short visit, and GJ is off again. No sitting on EJ's back either
