Our last view of EJ on Sunday included an entrancing landscape lit (info from Helen) by a full moon, with Jupiter below. (by Limpy)And now she is faceplanted into the nest, looking exhausted. © RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx WildYesterday saw her receiving one smallish long fish in late afternoon, and either consuming it quickly or dropping it. In any case she returned quickly to the nest. We all hope for more substantial and earlier deliveries for our Queen, or we will definitely be continuing to call him Junior.
Another event involved what seemed to be a male osprey, Blue Darvic NW3, caught expertly by the sharp-eyed Moffer (video by scylla), trying to land on the nest and being flapped away by EJ. Later, osprey alarm chirps were heard from afar. Maybe GJ chased off the intruder.
I leave with the most recent capture of the minute. It is tiring to raise a new generation and train a new mate at the same time...she rocks on the eggs in her sleep.© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild_______________________________________The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter, though—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. Good Morning All
Thank You CC for starting us off with your usual informative introductory posts.
I am back again for a wee while, and due to a 4 am rise yesterday morning my sleep patterns are still suffering, so here I am and no Scylla here to talk to LOL.
The good thing about my next trip away is I will get to see the wonderful EJ in the feather.
I have a LOT of catching up to do, in the meantime it looks like it is pouring of rain and poor EJ has her head tucked in, oh how dedicated all these Ospreys are, and no more so than our lovely EJ.
EJ's Memorial Balgavies Loch Ospreys 2023
Oh EJ has awakened and is chirping away in the rain, I hope George knows what she is wanting :-)
EJ awake and calling....... And the 'Ghost of Scotch Mist' is back with us. :D
It is getting light now and EJ is still calling although I have had to turn the sound down. :-)
EJ has got a frosty tail, but when I first looked just after 4 am, it was definitely raining or snowing, really strange weather... If SCYLLA is recording she may see if it was snowing earlier on.
Good Morning MaryGKI think you may find it was like yesterday @ MaryGK...it was neither snow or rain.... but the way the moisture floating in mist is captured by the cam under night-lighting, hence why I call it the 'Ghost of Scotch Mist'
EJ food calling again, gives the eggs a turn and settles back down again.
Sorry didn't get a snip of her when she was showing the eggs, my PS ins't working so will need to sort that out.
Morning Trying, that is really interesting, certainly a bit of a phenomenon :-)
GJ arrives...NO FISH.
Wonder what he wants?
EJ in no uncertain terms..lets him know (loudly) she wants FISH for breakfast and the earlier breakfast is, the better.
GJ Leaves
George was here with a clump, but EJ was telling him that was NOT what she wanted.
Will go now, hope to catch up later.
