At the moment, my VLC stream is unavailable. :-/ Therefore no black+white EJ shot to begin this DU.
While people are adjusting to the new moniker, we are also adjusting to his personally unique behaviors, such as sitting on EJ and pecking her head during mating. It helps to think of them as love bites. :-D And he has a way with sticks (video by scylla). He did finally deliver a headless fish to her just before 10 am after a morning filled with begging. Probably just so he could have another go brooding those eggs. (by Korky)
Moffer captured a wonderful sequence of His Adorableness here.
And please don't miss our resident poetess Lindybird's lovely verse about our guy here.
I think we are all agreed that we have developed an affection for this guy as he gets the hang of domestic life with EJ. Treat her right, guy, and she'll give you much joy, as well as a few generations of progeny! (pic by Karen)
Oh, and the aurora borealis effect we had on the cam before dawn yesterday was explained by trevor here as mist droplets caught in the IR cam light!
I just hope we have a cam by tomorrow morning so we can see if G manages more than one fish a day! :-(_______________________________________The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter, though—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. Good morning all you after-nooners. Moffer, I hope you are feeling better with your drugs. Thank you Sheila for a nice wrap-up so far in our day in which no fish has been seen. :-/
EJ has flown
She's back with chirps
Hi everyone - thanks for the updates and Sheila for the summary of this morning's activity.
So no sign of him yet? Hopefully soon and I just saw EJ give a little call!
He appears!! No fish, instead another mating attempt!!
EJ calls and GJ arrives to try and mate again! Where's the fish mate????
EJ pushes him off
And shouts for fish
At least he didn't try to peck her head this time.
Well.... he is going down in my estimation at the moment. He came, he landed on her back and flew. What on earth is all that about. Male superiority? EJ is not a happy bunny.

I am not sure they have fully bonded yet!
Scylla has already posted concerns, which I agree with, about them being out-of-sync with this mating. Is he seeing this as rejection and no mating - no fish?
But as well as no fish, he hasn't even wanted to incubate!
Hopefully things will pick up this afternoon as as Sheila has stated, we are now over 24 hours since a fish has been delivered. If these eggs are to hatch and he carries on like this, then there could be problems ahead :-(
I couldn't agree with you more Karen, and with Scylla's concerns too. I'm afraid unless things change soon, we are in for another sad year, and next year doesn't bear even contemplating at this stage.
I'm leaving the screen for a while. BBL
