At the moment, my VLC stream is unavailable. :-/ Therefore no black+white EJ shot to begin this DU.
While people are adjusting to the new moniker, we are also adjusting to his personally unique behaviors, such as sitting on EJ and pecking her head during mating. It helps to think of them as love bites. :-D And he has a way with sticks (video by scylla). He did finally deliver a headless fish to her just before 10 am after a morning filled with begging. Probably just so he could have another go brooding those eggs. (by Korky)
Moffer captured a wonderful sequence of His Adorableness here.
And please don't miss our resident poetess Lindybird's lovely verse about our guy here.
I think we are all agreed that we have developed an affection for this guy as he gets the hang of domestic life with EJ. Treat her right, guy, and she'll give you much joy, as well as a few generations of progeny! (pic by Karen)
Oh, and the aurora borealis effect we had on the cam before dawn yesterday was explained by trevor here as mist droplets caught in the IR cam light!
I just hope we have a cam by tomorrow morning so we can see if G manages more than one fish a day! :-(_______________________________________The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter, though—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. Thank you!

Moffer. It is the Sunday morning syndrome!
Birdies LG DU update.
8.52 Lovely morning at LG. EJ incubating the eggs as she hollers for fish.
Preening while she waits for breakfast
A Great Spotted Woodpecker landed on the back of the nest. Spotted EJ and flew off in haste. EJ didn't even look at it!
EJ is shouting, is there a fish?
Nope. All quiet again.
Good morning, all. Love the woody, Moffer!
I'm surprised that it appeared to be surprised - you'd think that everything living in the vicinity would know that the biggest nest in the neighbourhood was occupied by someone rather formidable.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
There was some almighty shouts from EJ, but no response. Some dark shadows appearing over woodland.
Heron77 said:I have to admit to thinking of EJ's origins. I know she hatched on a nest near Bridge of Cally, in North East Perthshire but I've recently (probably because she's nearing her 21st) began to have my own wee personal wonderings. What was she like as a bobblehead, and as a growing young Osprey? During her early flights after fledgling, could she ever have met the legendary Lady of the Loch? Just a couple of questions to entertain my own mind.
Here he is.......no fish!
Oh, dear - there's just been another unsuccessful mating attempt! He's flown.
