A quickie new DU, as I have been unconscious for several hours.
Relatively early in the day we were encouraged by "Junior" bringing EJ half a fish - but the day went downhill from there, with no incubation and no more food.
A mystery blue-ringed male landed on EJ's back, it's unlikely we'll learn any more about him because neither we nor the VC have a clear picture of the ring number - HF0 or BF0, neither of which is on record. It will probably be referred to Roy Dennis.
Is there damage to one of the eggs, or is this something stuck on the shell?
The Daily Update is for recording nest events only, allowing for banter ;) - any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. Thank you!
IMAGICAT
My live stream seems to be behaving itself. She was calling a short while ago.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Off to Minsmere today so I'll see you all later.
Have a great day Clare.
Birdies LG DU update.
Clare Bailey said:Good morning, all! I think we can safely say he hasn't rejected the eggs, which is great news.
Yes Clare, everything crossed. If she laid one in the next few days I guess we and he could assume that was his and that might strengthen his attachment, if not his incubating time!
She just burst into fish-calling.
He's on the way with... a PIECE of FISH !!!!!!!!!! --- I imagined it !!!
She's not taken it yet, he's approaching the eggs !!! I think he's left the fish behind him...
I await developments :-/
He's sat down, got up again...
Find the fish-tail, EJ :-/ --- Nothing to find :'(
EJ calling and moves back to receive but how disappointing for he is empty taloned
A little shot at incubating
He is up and down on the eggs ...
EJ continues to fish call
I need to review as I didn't see any fish piece but if small I may have missed it??
He seems quite taken with the eggs just now.
