No time to prepare a detailed synopsis of yesterday's discouraging events, which included matings and intrusions (with support from male) but no fish, despite EJ leaving the nest and her egg for a couple of quite long periods.
This sums up most of our feelings (me having said that I was not worried):

Edit
A couple of videos added to yesterday's DU, covering EJ's long break during which the male defended, and EJ tending the nestcup followed by a quick fly-around.

I see that the green stuff, whatever it is, is not clinging to EJs feet at all, thankfully.
It's certainly sad to see EJ on the nest, looking around all the time for a possible mate to appear.
EDIT -- It took me too long to post the above, and I see she has flown off now. Do hope she's gone fishing!
I have just come in for a break from the garden Sheila. I was hopeful that a fish might have arrived. No such luck. Maybe EJ really has gone fishing now.

Thanks for the captures Moffer.
Agree, I think she has deliberately covered the egg, most likely to protect from predators knowing she would soon be leaving the nest.
What is that towards the back of the nest that looks like feathers?
I posted a snap of the green stuff just before Moffer's "wuss" post, and since then was working on a cropped video of its history on the nest (but it really wasn't helpful), then following a kitchen session I had to check back on how the nest material got near the egg, whether anyone had been on the nest...
So we're all wusses, Moffer, worrying about our dearest EJ :-*

Hi, Patily :) If you're talking about the green stuff, that's what we'd all like to know. The male brought it in.
Thanks SCYLLA
Perhaps EJ should miss out the middleman and go direct to the suppliers, Belhaven Trout Co!
ENS It doesn't look as tho there have been any visitors.
