Yesterday's Daily Update saw some 370 posts, and spread to 25 pages. Trust me if you ever get the chance to read over it you will find it a great read. Not sure I could ever find the brevity to sum it up in one post.
Here's to Tuesday, and hopefully it will see EJ settle down with the most suitable male. She is on the nest just now. Quite windy at LG

Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
She has flown.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
EJ has flown
Back again, possibly with a stick?
She's back empty taloned
she moves some sticks
I must say i find this sequence shot by Moffer interesting: clearly the male needs some egg-ucating.
(which we all expected)
Links back to a post earlier (page 4?) when the male lands for the first time and kinda almost steps on the egg, while EJ watches that step-on-egg-move closely. Whether she has cleared her oviduct of an egg too long waiting, or something else is the matter or not, this egg may yet be a pivotal moment in time.
I am aware i may sound too hopefull.
2016: first time in history an Osprey nested in the NL. 2018: 2 active nests! 2019 a storm interferes. 2020: a third active nest in a tree!
I think she has brought a little piece of nesting I was surprised how easily she flew in this wind
Weather-wise it's not looking too bad today - mostly sunny, though that wind isn't going to drop until this evening.

Have a look:
This is EJ, captured back in July at Aviemore by Dave and Lynne Joicey. Fantastic photo!
This is one of the great black backed gulls local to Minsmere, captured at the end of January on a cold, windy day.
My husband, who used to farm, says that chickens and other egg layers, will often lay a non viable egg - it's no big deal.
Good morning all, well now we have an egg!! Last night when I was watching her in the nest, once the night cam had come on, I thought I could see and egg then, long before 2.00? Anyway what on earth is going to happen now? Where are the 2 fellows this morning and is one away to show what he is made off and bring back a fish, I hope so as poor EJ must be so hungry, will be away until later on in the afternoon, I so look forward to the updates, happy Osprey watching all.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
