Will we experience another disappointing day??? Another day, another blog, and a RSPB FB post of EJ (below). Yesterday EJ arrived first, and we were treated to a nice potter about the nest, lovely captures by many starting here (and great video by scylla). However, she was not joined by the new male. So the mystery continues with speculations of her possibly holding out for Odin, or having impossibly high standards after Odin, or simply needing better proof of a good mate other than domestic chore sharing. So far this male has missed the aesthetic importance of a good sky dance. A MALE (we are not sure it is the same or not) visited for short time after EJ left.A depressingly quiet empty nest tonight, light breeze.© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild_______________________________________The Daily Update thread is for recording nest events only—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. Thank you!

Thanks LIMPY and CLARE Good to know she's nearby
Earlier, LIMPY reported that the male (presumably New Male) had flown north.
Thanks for passing on his other reports, CLARE :-*
IMAGICAT
Morning ALL. Apologies for my lack of duty! It will continue today I am afraid, but I am trying to keep up. Many thanks CC, Scylla, Mary, Clare, etc, and not forgetting out 'man on the ground', Limpy for the updates.
I know it is completely out of our hands but I do feel saddened that EJ appears not to want the New Male (Newman!) and that she may find another, and another nest away from LG.
I think that New Male has one or two distinguishing features. He has dark feathers around his rump (technical!!) before the tail feathers, as shown in Scylla's captures today, and captures when he first arrived.
Today from Scylla
and 9 April by Scylla and Clare
and also a thin dark line behind the crop by Clare
When he landed on the nest earlier and left in a hurry following another anon bird, was he defending the nest? His crop looked fairly empty too.
A sad empty, chilly scene on the nest just now.

I read your post with dismay SHEILA It never entered my mind that EJ could abandon this nest for another
I am sorry to worry you Patily! Didn't EJ 'move in' with XD when Odin was a later arrival? She of course returned when Odin arrived, but he gave her a hard time of it! Given that anything we may say is mere speculation, and until we get any official report of a sighting of her elsewhere, I think anything could happen this year. It seems to unnatural to be looking at a more often than not empty nest on 13 April. Afterall, EJ has been back for over three weeks.
Hi everyone ☺
Thanks for all the updates, pictures etc. Good to see there's been Ospreys about. I wonder what will happen over the rest of the day. Perhaps EJ and the new male are perched on a branch creasing like shirts over our concerns. ENS @12.16
Warning! This post contains atrocious spelling, and terrible grammar. Approach with extreme edginess.
11.47 Osprey with fish being pursued by corvids
Apparently it was a male osprey, whether it was 'our' New Male (Newman!) it is not known.

Here's a slomo video. (It may not seem very slow, but it's the slowest MovieMaker will do.)
Nap time.
Good osprey-hunting to all who continue to watch :)
