The day or rather night started with EJ performing what became virtually an 'all night vigil' following her arrival on the nest late the previous evening in darkness after obviously sensing Pine Marten activity on the nest - the encounter brilliantly captured as usual by the amazing Scylla. She (EJ not Scylla), together with a rather unappetising tail of a fish, remained on the nest until just before dawn. The nest was mostly unoccupied during the day and we hope that the new day will bring us 2 Ospreys, preferably of different sexes and certainly 1 of them has to be EJ, getting to know each other. Hope springs eternal.
Some people think Ospreys are a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
Hi all, Les here, I got back from Loch Garten about 4 hours ago, I was in the forward hide on Wednesday evening (4th)when the team went out to the nest to put the mast camera back up after repair. It all went well and the camera was working 90 minutes later, so we can now follow EJ wherever she goes for the first time this season.

Not sure what you mean about mis-placing the post, but here it is highlighted :)
News from Loch Garten ;) Thank you, Les!

Seriously looking forward to live views from that cam!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
They put the camera up before EJ arrived but it wasn't watertight and I think it went pop,so it's been away for repair, Ian, Fraser, Rhui from the Azores and Gordon the camera guy went out in the rain for 90 mins to put it back up.
Hello Les. Nice to see you here! It's great to hear what goes on behind the scenes. I can second Scylla's comment! We certainly look forward to roaming cam following EJ on her various perches and admiring the scenery.
It's a while since our paths crossed!
