Maya & 33’s Record Breaking Season so far:
Maya surprised us when she arrived back 12 March, the earliest date ever recorded at a UK public nest.
Blue 33(11), not to be outshone, arrived two days later on 14 March, making this date the earliest known for a returning pair.
On 28 March Maya laid her first egg, becoming the earliest egg to be laid in a UK public nest beating the current record by 5 days!
And in the early hours of 31 March, Maya laid a second egg.

Over the next few days we can expect Maya to lay another egg or perhaps she may lay another two! But let’s hope our record breaking pair enjoy a peaceful April and plenty of good weather while they incubate their precious eggs.
Hi Ann
I guess I didn’t make it clear in my post, I meant a four chick nest on a webcam :-). That’s why I mentioned FOIB nest having four on a webcam.
I think you are correct about a four chick nest at Kielder, but I cannot remember if they had a streaming webcam on that nest then. Maybe Jaydee will clarify.
Balgavies also had a four chick nest in 2016, but no webcam. :-)
I think we were all excited when Maya laid four eggs last year, thinking how wonderful it would be to see four chicks being reared on a webcam. Then Lady also laid four eggs and I believe all four failed that year.

Oh, sorry, Mary, I misunderstood your meaning. Unfortunately, I cannot recall if Kielder had a streamed webcam or not although I remember what might have been a video which could easily have been posted by JD but not been on any live streaming. Yes, it would be great to see 4 chicks growing up and fledging--live!
Kind regards, Ann

Ann, there was another four who all fledged successfully at Tweed Valley in 2005.
They named the youngest Errol after Errol Flynn, for his swashbuckling spirit. Many times they feared him dead coming off the worse from his older siblings but usually it was him that started the fights LOL. The local plus the farming news wrote an article about him and TV also released a DVD about the nest that included coverage of the Fab Four as they were known. I was fortunate to meet Emma (past warden LoTL) who worked then at TV and it was her that told me about him and that it was really down to brain, not brawn that he survived.
Some stringy, I think bark, on the nest just now.
Maya has settled back on the eggs nibbling at it and 33 has flown
Raining again .... Maya sheltering her eggs
33 flew down from the campost landing on Maya's back.
Maya then rose and 33 attempt to mate but Maya was not receptive.
I have noticed that usually after 3 eggs are laid, mating stops so interesting that 33 attempted to yesterday then again today and Maya is not interested.
33 then flew off returning with a little nesting material.
Maya flew off leaving 33 to the eggs :-)
Perhaps just a comfort break as she quickly returns and brings some nesting material
33 didn't settle but flew off and Maya now incubating again.
