Not much I can say for now except to note that the pine marten has marked territory again on the nest yesterday. I wasn't around, but scylla captured some beautiful footage and shots of EJ leaving and coming down to the nest. I particularly enjoyed the vocalizations and her spirit, which seems not diminished in the least by the shadow of last season. We should all be so filled with the spirit of life and enjoyment of the moment! (capture by scylla)
(You may notice I have reverted to the old title, as on reflection, I think the original is just as good....if you disagree, I am open.)_______________________________________The Daily Update thread is for recording nest events only—any questions or conversations can happen on the Osprey Chat thread. What a shame, I am sure you will sort it for her Mike.
EJ still standing looking all around her..... I wonder if the waiting is as excruciating for her as it is for us waiting to see who will turn up for her, I hope a male turns up soon whoever that may be.
Hello everybody - long time no chat! (I lurked through last season and will probably have to so this year). Just a quick comment: l've been lucky enough to catch the splendiferous EJ on the nest on several occasions since her splendiferous return, and I am just wondering about something. Apart from brief periods of nestkeeping and cupping, she seems to spend most of her time on the right hand edge of the nest, gazing extremely intently and with much concentration into the sky. I may be up the creek, but I THINK that direction is due south - from this fixed camera angle the sun rises on the LEFT of the frame doesn't it? Presumably, she has a built-in compass, and all the ospreys will be arriving from the south, so is she trying to spot a suitable returning mate - Odin or A N other?
