One week from Easter Sunday, and all of us are anxiously awaiting EJ finding a lucky guy that lives up to her (and our) standards. At least, we now have the cam back, though we have not seen EJ since the cam has been back up. We can only trust she is nearby the nest (perhaps on the branch below) keeping intruders and curious pine martens at bay. At present a light wind ruffles the grasses on the nest.© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild

Mary, EJ seems to have favoured the perch below the nest so far and we had a photo from there in the week taken from the centre by one of the ladies. There was no one there yesterday apart from the engineer working to replace the camera cable which was damaged so no reports from 'site'.
Birdies LG DU update.
Does it open on Easter Friday then Mike? So glad they got the camera back though, good work by all concerned.

They will certainly be open on Good Friday. In fact, I think I remember reading they open for the season on the 29th.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
I believe so Mary. I guess they were just stocking up etc last week and hopefully will be present this week if not actually open. At least that gives us a chance to get updates if EJ is not in view. May be they'll use the other camera?
29th sounds good!
Can't wait to get up there in May.... roll on May! :-)
Edit: yes it would be good to get updates Mike when EJ is off screen for long periods, when we don't see her our wee hearts get deflated thinking she has moved on somewhere else, not that I would mind that really, knowing that she is safe and well is the biggest prize of this season for me. :-)
Got to scoot now, got a lot on today, will check back tonight to catch up. Have a good day everyone, happy webcam watching!

Thank you Clare. I checked the Reserve detail on the main site yesterday and it says....from 1stApril!. However I suspect that is the 'normal' date but as Easter is early this year things have no doubt changed. Just needs Sandy to catch up!
Like you, I'm sure Jess said it would be open for Easter.
Can you imagine what all the families local to the area would say if it wasn't open when so many other places will be?
We're expecting to be very busy at Minsmere next weekend - the schools break up this coming week.
Morning all. I'm hoping for some more returnees today, as I've only got housework to do (groan) and would like a distraction or several to add to the lovely ones already here.
Morning all, well I see her lady ship has made a brief visit to us the is morning, hope she returns soon. What a cracking photo Mike has out on, you could just pick her up a give her a cuddle as Patily said. Off to see if she is on the nest and then away, things to do, so will be back later on today, happy viewing all.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Hello everyone. What a treat to see Mike's wonderful capture of EJ, and Scylla's super vid. EJ really does look in such wonderful condition. Many thanks too to Mike for speaking to Peter, who so kindly responded despite it being gone 19.00 on a Saturday evening.
Currently ENS on a nice day.
