Well folks, its been an exciting day despite the weather. The middle chick increased its wing exercising and almost went this afternoon but no, it was this evening at about 19.37pm that it fledged. Alison posted a link on the main blog. In case anyone missed it , it is: www.youtube.com-watch Its only short but it shows clearly it taking off.
At present we don't know where it is. The eldest and youngest are on the nest with we hope middle one on a tree sheltering from the wind. Only the morning will tell and hopefully when there is a fish delivery it will come back onto the nest
The eldest has had a few forays out into the big wide world also but #3 is still at home but has been practising. What will tomorow bring??

Thanks, All.
EJ has returned, and all are calling. Didn't see a fish but she is moving stuff around:
I was watching the Lake Ditrict ospreys, looking about to fledge, and may have missed LG No 3.
Just watched the video & it looks a lot like No 2 with lots of white on the face so I really don't know!!!
Only two left on the nest at this point:
-- then one of them flew off, leaving the remaining one crouched in the nest, as if it were #3, who can't fly yet...
.....he is on the left of this picture, as the others come & go.....
The one who keeps flying off and coming back is certainly having fun .... showing off I think!! I'm not convinced #3 has fledged yet.
EDIT - #3 is still doing practice wing flapping ... which the others never did after they fledged.

The one in the video must have been one of these two - but which one ???

I think so, too Joan. I may be wrong of course ! but I'm not entirely convinced by the video I'm afraid. The landing on the clip was very expert, (as Brenda says at the top of this page) as if the bird had done it before....
good morning! (well it is morning to me!) just caught up and saw the main blog about number 3 and just watched the video ......... to throw a cat in, at about 9 mins into the recording the bird in question shows its tail (the only way i can ID #3) and there ARE white stripes .............. but the take off and landing were SO good, it was probably one of the others or #3 has learnt very well by watching .......... according to jsb's stats (thank you) fledging involves flying off the nest to another perch, and that does not seem to happen as the others follow the flyer around and above the nest!! so all in all, i am confused!! :-) xxxxx
Morning all: I just want to congratulate everybody ......... for their pix and posts. :-))) I don't think #3 fledged, maybe Watcher 2 hit the wrong key?
