Well folks, its been an exciting day despite the weather. The middle chick increased its wing exercising and almost went this afternoon but no, it was this evening at about 19.37pm that it fledged. Alison posted a link on the main blog. In case anyone missed it , it is: www.youtube.com-watch Its only short but it shows clearly it taking off.
At present we don't know where it is. The eldest and youngest are on the nest with we hope middle one on a tree sheltering from the wind. Only the morning will tell and hopefully when there is a fish delivery it will come back onto the nest
The eldest has had a few forays out into the big wide world also but #3 is still at home but has been practising. What will tomorow bring??

We can see exactly where the two siblings are flying by watch Titch watch them :)

I was depending on the tagging, etc., to help me ID the chicks, but oh well. Maybe next year... at least we know it's still Titch on the nest - what am I going to do when he/she fledges? :-)

Tiger said he had personally never heard of an Osprey staying away from the nest on it's first flight. He said he knew of some staying away on the second day.
He also said they usually fledge in the morning , but he knew of a couple of cases where they fledged later in the day
Tiger is an expert on Ospreys !!
That wind will make fishing harder. Our Aussie winter day is sunny, gentle breeze - much better than LG summer. LOL
Barbara Jean: You're right about being able to follow incoming ospreys by watching Titch. She's how much younger than the others? Doesn't seem as eager to go anywhere.
We have the same type weather at this time here in the USA as they do in Scotland . Wind rain , humidity and heat
Has anyone ever done a tally of the number of different countries represented on this Blog?
I don't recall hearing from the "Saudi Lads" this year.
