Well folks, its been an exciting day despite the weather. The middle chick increased its wing exercising and almost went this afternoon but no, it was this evening at about 19.37pm that it fledged. Alison posted a link on the main blog. In case anyone missed it , it is: www.youtube.com-watch Its only short but it shows clearly it taking off.
At present we don't know where it is. The eldest and youngest are on the nest with we hope middle one on a tree sheltering from the wind. Only the morning will tell and hopefully when there is a fish delivery it will come back onto the nest
The eldest has had a few forays out into the big wide world also but #3 is still at home but has been practising. What will tomorow bring??

It looks like only the youngest is on the nest. Eldest must be either on the cam post or to the extreme left hand side.

good morning all!! i KNEW that was going to happen! i managed a sneak peak at the blog while i was at work (dont tell the boss!) and missed the fledging by about 10 minutes - i didnt arf swear! i hope that #2 is ok - i am sure that he / she is (i dont know why - but i think 2 is a girl - bigger than the other two and fledged a bit older than 1) and is being protected by mum and dad, but like everyone else, i would like to see her (him) back on the nest, just to put my mind at rest ........ well, it has been a long evening, so i will wish you all goodnight and catch up with you after lunch tomorrow XXXX
ghengis I agree with you that #2 is proabably a female. It has alwaye been larger than #1.
Saturday it wiil be interesting to see how long it take s#2 to come back to the nest. She is the timid one of the brood!

Hi Gary, Dawn is breaking. Now both laying down but both are looking around a bit. Looks like they are trying to decide "if" they should get up and start the day .
They are both up. The eldest flew off.
Titch is alone on the nest flapping like crazy. He has seen the eldest fly past the nest and he wants to fly too.
Poor thing has a large clump of nesting material stuck to it's foot and he can't figure out how to remove it . It looks like he was holding on to the nest so firmly as he was flapping his wings that the nesting material got stuck on his talons
EDIT he walked around and got rid of one clump and picked up another clump on the other foot :(
