WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY MARCH 11, 2018

Hi All: Just got in from movies (Three Billboards....); pizza in the oven.  Back later.

  • HeatherB -To me the litter problem is the responsibility of parents to teach their children to keep all rubbish and take it home and dispose of it or put it in a bin.  I was always taught by my parents and it has stuck with me as I did our children.  It seems to me that parents these days can't be bothered or at least don't keep an eye on the kids habits.  Hope you get a satisfactory answer from the school.

Lindybird - great to hear that you met up with friends for a relaxing

    drinks party etc.

We seem to be losing some of our famous personalities all at once recently.

OG - hope the handover for your new car goes smoothly and you will soon be enjoying some rides out in it.

Clare - just seen your post, that's brilliant that two have made it back.

  • My, My, Wendyb you are having a time of it going from one place to another.   Enjoy your girlie week on Lundy.

OG - glad to hear you have your new car but hope that those problems re hoist can be sorted before too long.   Enjoy it.

Leg continues to make progress - just waiting for the deep scabs to work loose and drop off. Managed to debride a bit more today. Getting there with it, just have to be patient.

Thanks for all your snippits of news.

  • Evening all: Ms. D and I spent a lot of time out and about today and had lots of giggles about silly things. We had a very sharp, cold wind and showers, so we stopped at Starbucks drive-through for a latte (for me) and hot chocolate with whipped cream for Ms. D, who couldn't get over the barista suggesting she'd prefer it at "children's temperature" and insisted all the way home that that was the only way to enjoy hot chocolate.

We're all hoping for at least a dry and not too cold day on Saturday for the b'day as 13 kids have RSVPd and we are goggle-eyed at the prospect of entertaining them all in the house.

Thanks ALL for news; have a good Friday!

  • It’s wonderful. So cold I had to find a jumper, albeit a thin one. And it has rained – grand total of 1.4 mm. Maybe winter is not far away.

    .

What temp is “children’s” for hot chocolate? I dislike getting a scalding hot coffee.

    .

I survived extended nanny duty but I am really too old to play twister. That’s the first and last time. Dau has managed other days without any emergencies. S-i-l returns tomorrow.

Perversely, we're cooling down as well - and we've got snow forecast for the weekend!  Oh, joy.

Off to Minsmere today - looking forward to seeing what's about.

    Have a good day, all!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • LYNETTE    I totally agree. I saw a family picnicking in a field I used as a dog walk. I thought "how nice' until the next day when I saw all their picnic debris left behind. How were those children going to learn if their parents weren't bothered.

  • Good Morning. Have read through but no time for replies as we're off out on an outing, soon. Had a lovely steak meal last night with some friends (English) before they go home today, but we sat on hard chairs and I could hardly rise after a couple of hours!

Have a good day everyone, especially Clare on her Minsmere outing!

  • Cold – but we don’t seem to have the snow in our local forecast.  J has stayed off sick this morning – seeing Doc right now – got an urgent appt due to dizziness, and OH has driven him there.

Lynette – pleased to read of improvement in the leg.

Annette – I think I have my hot choc at “children’s temperature” – but no cream (sometimes marshmallows!).  Hope you get outdoor party weather on Saturday – what fun!

AQ – glad you are wearing a jumper at last!  I am sure you shouldn’t be playing twister with two prosthetic knees!

Clare – looking forward to some Minsmere photos!

Linda – enjoy the outing – hope you can bear the sitting okay after the “numb bum” experience at dinner!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hope nothing bad re J, OG. A nuisance that the new car was damaged, hope that you get some compensation!

Very windy here this morning. Leaves everywhere except where they should be!

LYNETTE - good to read that the leg is clearing up - take care.

AQ - As OG says, maybe Twister is not the best thing for you to be playing....

ANNETTE  - you sound as if you are enjoying things over in Arizona. Miss D will be excited to have GG with her!

I went out for lunch with eldest daughter yesterday. We don't see enough of each other because she is a part time nail technician as well as doing her full time job. Anyway, went to No 27 and enjoyed good food and a good natter. I'm off out again tomorrow, to the Tapas restaurant with eldest daughter and her OH and Katie. It is a feast or a famine here!

Better go as awaiting a visit from the Brewin Dolphin man. I will pretend that I understand the stock market but don't actually have to do anything much as I pay them to manage things and they do make money for me. Just as well.....
