WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY MARCH 4 2018

Diane: Will REALLY miss you on here.  Like Heather, I enjoy your updates on RTH and other critters.

Spoke to niece in Newport Pagnell today via Facetime; saw pix of her cats snuggled by the fire and snow piled up in the garden.

Have been shopping for a new laptop and a replacement iPhone (an older model) so I can pass on mine to one or other family member with an even more ancient and failing model.  My laptop screen keeps dimming plus odd video symptoms pop up and it turned itself off the other day.  Costco has a really good deal on one and I do like what they call their "concierge" service that adds another year to the manufacturer's warranty.  They were a great help in resolving a problem with a new TV we bought some years back when the manufacturer and local service person flaked out - they arranged to have someone drive up from Los Angeles to sort it out (we ended up with a replacement), but Costco handled the whole thing.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

  • Sorry to hear about your cousin's husband, LINDY. I hope that things go well for him.

Heavy rain all day here and quite bad road conditions in the Aberdeen area.

Early night for you both, I'm thinking - you'll soon be in warmer climes! Enjoy :-)

  • Older SD finished chemo course today! Next is a week of radio therapy in April. She is progressing.

  • She will be pleased to have got that over with, ForestBoar. I hope she finds the radiotherapy is only a bit tiring, with just the fact that you have to travel every day the worst part :-)

    Progress, as you say!

Heather - thank you kindly. I think I'll stop dusting now... I always panic at this stage, about the state of the place!

  • I hope you have a relaxing holiday, Lindy. You and your OH are in need of a little R & R after the difficult and disappointing time you have had recently.

Good idea to find somewhere nearer to facilities for future visits.

Well done with the shoe count, but will you have enough!

ForestBoar, hope you manage to get round the corner for lunch tomorrow.

Karen, Thank you for posting about the bridge. Interesting. Lovely to get to walk across it. Good to know that it can stay open in windy conditions.

OG, I cannot quite keep up with your transport arrangements, but think the new car completes your requirements. I wish you pleasant journeys.

Annette, your 'turn of phrase' always makes me smile! Good luck with the 'to do' stuff.

Hello to Heather and everyone else not mentioned.

Family problems do not go away.

  • OK, so Linda is only taking 5 pairs of shoes. Next question <big smile> how many extra pairs will she bring home?

  • Nanny duty. What, another week gone already. At least today just the normal 3 hours.

  • Hello all

I'm sorry, ROSY, that your family problems are still not resolved. As said previously, it is harder when you are far away.

I've been thinking about DIANE and how busy she must be, trying to do house repairs. I'm thinking that it could be her roof.

AQ- Well, only three hours!Better than some of your mammoth efforts... I'm not so good with little ones but must gird my loins if I'm to look after an almost three year old in June....

OG- you'll soon get used to the new car, I'm sure. All you have to do is be comfortable in it, EE is at the helm!

LYNNETTE- so good to read that your leg is improving and not causing you too much discomfort.

I'm thinking about Callum and his friends as they attend the funeral today of the boy who died. Also the lad's family, of course. That goes without saying.

The sun is shining here and I imagine that DIBNLIB and Benson will have been out.

  • FB - I hope you two have managed out for lunch today - we had rain this morning, but dry this afternoon, including underfoot on paths and deck.  Pleased to see Elder SD finished chemo - and a reasonable time to get fit for R.Therapy, which will be a doddle after chemo!

LINDA - sorry about your sick relative.  I assume you have set off as planned this morning - have a good time!

ROSY - I'll be phoning re car at the end of the week - hoping it is ready next week for some trial journeys before the longer distance - trouble is, next week has several medical appointments!  Sorry you still have family problems ongoing.

AQ - Nanny-day seemed to come round again very quickly - glad it is just a normal length this time!

HEATHER - it is good that Callum will have other friends with him at the funeral - and it may help them all to get some degree of closure.

Quite a pleasant day here, but busy indoors.  I suppose gardening days will happen some time!   J has gone for Jury service at last.   I did a bit more sewing this morning - can't do too long at a stretch, but seem to be getting on with it.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • A nice day with sunny intervals, it got to 8C in the early afternoon. This morning we were at the edge of a 'Be Aware' warning for snow from midnight tonight to midday tomorrow. Having checked the latest update it seems to have moved further away (I hope). Everything normal today and back to our regular lunch with younger SD. Hoist suppliers now due tomorrow afternoon to check on them. Bathroom makes three beeps every so often and we suspect it is an audio version of the red flashing light for a service which the engineer was unable to reset. The bedroom occasionally moves back to its charging point but doesn't charge. Fortunately SD was with us and we managed to use what charge there was and doing things manually. Now have to check everything is working before carrying on each time. I am looking forward to a week when nothing leaps out at you!

  • FB - if it's any consolation, the hospital hoists' batteries didn't hold their charge very long, and I was always fearful that one would run out with me in mid-air - but at least there was usually a spare battery in the charger.  I hope you enjoyed your lunch!
