Diane: Will REALLY miss you on here. Like Heather, I enjoy your updates on RTH and other critters.
Spoke to niece in Newport Pagnell today via Facetime; saw pix of her cats snuggled by the fire and snow piled up in the garden.
Have been shopping for a new laptop and a replacement iPhone (an older model) so I can pass on mine to one or other family member with an even more ancient and failing model. My laptop screen keeps dimming plus odd video symptoms pop up and it turned itself off the other day. Costco has a really good deal on one and I do like what they call their "concierge" service that adds another year to the manufacturer's warranty. They were a great help in resolving a problem with a new TV we bought some years back when the manufacturer and local service person flaked out - they arranged to have someone drive up from Los Angeles to sort it out (we ended up with a replacement), but Costco handled the whole thing.
Have a good Sunday everyone.
Im fine but busy annette thanks annette
Sunny Monday 7 degrees – J gone to work, OH shopping. I’ll now catch up on Sunday’s posts.
George – good to see a post from you – but sorry you had freezing water problems. I see things are still quite bad not far north from you. Pleased someone cleared your way to the car – but still take care on the roads. Trying to imagine what Loch Leven Larder may be like with alterations – must have a look on their website! We are still hoping to get to Fife again this year - technically, I suppose we shall be there for Grandson’s wedding in three weeks, but only just – reception and accommodation at North Queensferry (ceremony in Dalmeny on the south side). Half looking forward to the new crossing and half fearing it!
Linda – sounds like you have found answers to the shorts crisis without buying new ones! Is it Tuesday you are setting off? Enjoy!
Rosy – how I wish you were right about feet not getting fat – mine are so swollen they don’t even look like feet; I have stayed in special sandals right through winter!
Alicat – lovely to see a post from you – and the photo of lovely Millie! I hope all is well with you.
FBoar – hope you and OH can get out for your Wednesday lunch. I might even go to church lunch on Thursday – haven’t managed out since the 18th party in Darlington before the snow came.
Annette – buying anything seems to get so complicated these days – too many decisions to make! I would certainly demand discount for ex-display model!
Having dried and warmed soil in cold frames, I am hoping OH can sow a few seeds today, and set up propagators in the greenhouse too. Very late to be starting it all! I might even get around to shortening another pair of trousers – always pleased to get on with it once I have actually started, but that first cut always scares me!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Been out to the post office to return something (sandals!!) and my OH drove me past & dropped me off, so I could walk back. Enjoyed a bit of fresh air as not been out much lately. Its surprisingly warmer already. The birds are singing like mad in all the trees, they think its Spring, poor things - long way to go yet.
OG - Glad that you can now contemplate getting out and about again. We leave at "Silly O'clock" on Wednesday morning, a golfing friend of my OH's is taking us to the airport which thankfully is not too far.I shall be glad to be able to make my OH calm down - he seems to have been rushing around again lately and is still getting over his chesty cold. Hopefully the dry air there should help him get rid of it.
I really hate getting out the big scissors and cutting the bottoms off trousers which are often too long for me! Its so final, and of course they are always new ones. I'm long in the body but short in the leg for my height so only the "Short" styles from M&S are any good, any others are waay too long.
All is well thanks og hope you are
It is raining, my 14 year old dryer has just died and I'm drying towels on radiators :-( Things could be worse !
Morning all: Recorded the Academy Awards last night and by the time I'd fast-forwarded through all the ads, had caught up with the final 15 minutes of the live ceremony. No real surprises, but was pleased to see Alison Janney win for Best Supporting Actress. And even though I live in comfy pants or shorts, I do like to see who's wearing what; they seem to wear one thing for the ceremony and something else at all the parties. Thought Helen Mirren looked classy; not sure whither Jane Fonda...
Lindybird: I was thinking a loose, lightweight dress; nothing fitted. Why am I not surprised you were returning a pair of shoes? :-)
OG: "The new crossing?" Is that a boat or train? Will you be driving? Hope the weather is good.
Off to gym; sun is shining; more rain expected later this week but forecasters are waffling on amounts...
HEATHER - woops - appliances always know to break down when you have extra towels or bedding washed!
ANNETTE - new crossing between North and South Queensferry is a bridge called the Queensferry Crossing - replaces the 1960s Forth Road Bridge which is now for slow traffic - is new southern part of the M90 out of Edinburgh into Fife and Kinross & Perthshire. Quite impressive to see on screen - completed in 2017. OH will be driving the three of us - unfortunately on a Friday evening to get there, as J will be working. This wedding is one week before Easter.
No gardening done - everything has been very slow today!
Have come on for a whinge...... Had a horrible day, with lots of hassle in the end. But have just returned from sis-in-laws where we had a good moan about it and a cup of tea.... She is a treasure, and listened and commiserated.
Heather: Sorry about the drier. Never a good time for them, or the central heating to break, usually when you need them most.
Back later!
Has Bonnie gone to S-I-L for your holiday?
We saw "Finding your Feet" this afternoon. A MUST SEE film. It was funny, poignant and heart warming with a great cast.
