The purpose of this thread is to record the day-to-day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2018 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
Details about the Manton Bay nest, including a table of the breeding data, can be found here.
Last year we were thrilled to see both Maya and Blue 33(11) return within hours of each other on the 22 March and I am sure I speak for us all in wishing them both a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
With impeccable timing, a corvid is currently on the nest. Ian
EDIT - the second I posted this it flew off!
Wonderful news, welcome back Maya.
Karen, I bet when you posted at 11.03 and commented, that in 10 days time when she returned everything better be off the nest, you never expected to see her on it, less that an hour later!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Thank you Karen :) I am indeed volunteering this year - I start again on the 24th

I most certainly did not Catlady - I was all set for some banter about the EGs LOL
But it just goes to show these ospreys never fail to surprise us :-)

Pleased for you Sandra. Look forward to hearing about your shift and just hope 33 and a good many of all the others are safely back by then - Enjoy :-)

Great news, Everyone! Thanks for all the pics and posts and to Alan for the videos. Could not believe my eyes when I switched on the computer and read about Maya on the Dyfi Facebook page. Had to rush off to read the Rutland page and to here! Seems Maya has set a record. Fingers crossed that 33 and all of our other favourites return safely as well.
Kind regards, Ann
Hooray, great to see her, and so early too. Who will be next I wonder!
Can anyone help please, I have all the Osprey webcams set as favourites and this year I can't get on the the Rutland webcam, I tried to go on via the Puffin browser and it works okay but not through Safari on my iPad?
