The purpose of this thread is to record the day-to-day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2018 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
Details about the Manton Bay nest, including a table of the breeding data, can be found here.
Last year we were thrilled to see both Maya and Blue 33(11) return within hours of each other on the 22 March and I am sure I speak for us all in wishing them both a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
She's back again, flapping... just standing looking now.
IMAGICAT
Maya, right now on the nest at Manton Bay
She flew off quickly returning with a large stick

Edit: Stayed only a few minutes and flew off again
Maya's brought another fine fish !!!

And again, it was alive ;( No vid!
She's flown with her fish.
Another whopper! I am always amazed at just how powerful they are to be able to catch a fish that size!
It will certainly keep her going a few hours :-)

It's been like that since the disastrous re-jig they did a few years ago, Karen - presumably to save resources. But what is so useless is that it doesn't even give a link to the post being quoted. If I could find where tech probs can be reported I'da done it, have looked!
Shame that video got BOPS'd (Bottom Of Page Syndrome, for the uninitiated).
Also, when I was titling it I thought "Maya on pogo stick landing on trampoline".
Latest Update on Maya and how exciting ... 30(05) is on the move.
