The purpose of this thread is to record the day-to-day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2018 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
Details about the Manton Bay nest, including a table of the breeding data, can be found here.
Last year we were thrilled to see both Maya and Blue 33(11) return within hours of each other on the 22 March and I am sure I speak for us all in wishing them both a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Wide angle camera seems to have had the colour toned down a little now.
Birdies LG DU update.
Cormorant still there, soon to be evicted
Karen, thank you for another shiny new thread. Thought I'd better post and not miss any notifications!

These two have just arrived on the nest. Opening day at Lyndon.

Morning Mike, hopefully a good day at Lyndon to be had by all.
EGs had left but I see have now returned. I expect they will be back and forth until Maya and 33 see them off. I just hope they don't lay any eggs!
I see the cormorant is now making itself comfy!!!

Awwwwwwww. I love cormorants, though I know ospreys don't!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Briefly, just now there was a corvid on the nest. I wonder how many different birds we will get before an osprey! Ian
The corvid is probably after nesting material.
Thanks for getting us up and running Karen.
