HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

  • I spent today at Minsmere - I've just been through my photos but I'll wait until tomorrow to post them as I'm nearly asleep now!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • OG: Ah, okay, I get it about the wedding fair. Who knows why our kids do what they do? Still, as you say, it'll be nice to see them. :-)  Nice to read that your garden center trip went so well.

Heather: Heard on the way home today that the military had been put in control of the police in Rio (and maybe all Brazil?) due to the increase in crime, mostly in the poorer areas of the city. Much the same has happened in Mexico, where the drug cartels are creating havoc, but apparently not in the tourist centers of visitors' favorite cities. What a mess!

Lindybird: "A host of golden daffodils"!  That would lift your spirit.  :-)

Diane: SpaceX is launching a rocket out of Vandenberg tomorrow morning, scheduled for 6:17. We're hearing that it'll be seen over a wide area and that the visuals of the could be quite dramatic given that the trails should be illuminated by the sun. Hope you're doing okay.

    Have a good Saturday everyone.

  • Annette: THANKS! I will check it out. I hope you get to see it. The last time SpaceX launched from Vandenberg, hundreds of people reported a UFO! And it did look plenty weird. I'm okay. I did something to injure my danged shoulder, neck, and arm, so I've had many creative sweary words this week. I'll catch up with everyone when I start the new thread.

  • Annette: I think that SpaceX launch has been rescheduled for Sunday morning. Not sure if that's what you meant. Check here and here

  • Good morning!  OH decided he would set alarm for 7 instead of 6:30, so I was wide awake at 6:30 instead of my usual one-eye-open appearance at 7 - we decided we should both get up - he had woken at 6!  Oh well, guess he must have had enough sleep.  I think I was still wrestling with that lovely soup from yesterday!

Linda - must bring our daffodils out from their resting place behind the shed - already got the crocus bowls out by the front door - a bright cheery welcome, but the blooms are suffering when the wind blows.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good Morning, All.  Dry here. Sorry to see that you injured yourself, Diane :-(

See you got an early start on the day, unlike me, OG!  I love the first flowers of the year. Only got purple crocus out, besides my snowdrops up to now.

  • Some nice pansies blooming here - they have amazed me by their resilience to alternate frost and thaw, frost and thaw ....  A lot of the perennials are showing good shoots, but the silly red hot pokers (kniphofias) decided to throw up flower spikes as well as leaves, so they succumbed!  Still too wet underfoot to do all the much-needed trimming, moving etc, but good to see the promise of spring.  Like the Barn Owl.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Oh, I do like owls ... thank you, Lindy.
