HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

  • OH  is just back from walk and tells me that the track is lethal so I may not bother. He can't quite believe he stayed upright.

  • It was white over with frost here, when we got up!

  • No frost this morning and brilliant sunshine - also rain is unlikely today, so garden centre here we come, for lunch and seed-shopping!

Sorry about that snooty restaurant, ANNETTE, pleased the new one was satisfactory.  We are often actually offered a table for four even if there are some twos available!  But these days we usually book ahead to be sure.

Expecting a very short visit from Dau#2 on Sunday morning - they are going to a wedding fair at their hotel - seems a long way to come when they have already booked, but I think they are also spending time in Glasgow on Saturday.  So another Sunday I shan't get to church - just OH went last week; but I have been busy preparing the magazine.  Shall miss next weekend as we shall all 3 be going to GD#2 18th birthday - snow permitting!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • ANNETTE- I'm so pleased that you walked out of that restaurant.

OG- It will be good to see your daughter, even just for a flying visit with what I guess will be coffee and home made muffins or similar.

Thanks to all for pics and posts. I'm up to date with all your news and apologise for lack of replies. Getting organised for son and Sam's visit. I asked Sam for meal ideas. Top of list was a roast dinner....

  • PS Our Danish friends are on their way to Rio for a holiday. Not where I would choose but they are very excited as have never been out of Europe before. Hope they will be safe.

  • Morning all:  Interesting comments about eating alone at restaurants; that used to be more of an issue here than it is now. Typically - at least in California - you're welcomed and no longer forced to sit next to the kitchen door with your face to the wall!   Today I'm meeting a friend for lunch to celebrate both our birthdays - hers was back in October! We know this place; it's good and comfy.

OG: Daughter #2 not the daughter getting married this July?  I do wish we had Brit-style garden centers here. I'm amazed someone hasn't figured out it's a brilliant way to entrap all kinds of consumers.

dibnlib: How nice your restaurants are so accommodating; it's probably because you're still living in communities where customers aren't seen solely in terms of profit potential.

Heather: Gosh, Carnival in Rio ends on the 18th. Do hope they get to see some of it. It's quite the party from what I gather. I'm sure they'll be fine.  I still have most of the U.S. on my 'to do' list.  :-(

Off to check the headlines and see what the Leader (ahem) of the Free World is offering up as the Fiasco du Jour...

  • Annette, what an awful attitude from that restaurant.  I ate alone at a Pizza Hut on Wednesday evening - they weren't very busy and they happily went along with my choice of seat, a booth which could have seated four!  Thoroughly nice, and a highly edible pizza which was completely demolished.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Heather – Dau and Fiancé drink tea, rarely coffee – and no muffins cos I went out instead of baking them and I have other things to do tomorrow – although there are some cheese muffins in the freezer.  We have actually bought a selection of buns (Chelsea etc) in morrisons!  Have a wonderful weekend with Sam – and the gin?

Annette – yup, the Dau getting married in July – that’s what I meant – it’s all booked, so why drive all the way here for the wedding Fair?  Seems so unnecessary – but I shall enjoy seeing them!

Garden centre lunch was excellent – a wonderful very freshly made minestrone soup and made-to order sandwiches.  Also found all the things on our list.  A pleasant day out!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Glad you had a good day out, OG! Can't wait to see Sam and his dad, with or without gin!

I pointed out the apostrophe error but he tells me that he didn't write that post... I think he should check these things.
  • Relaxing with a drink in hand, after a busy day. Eldest Son arrived yesterday alright, then went early to bed after doing a days work plus a long journey.  Today OH and I went out for vegetables and bird seed from Farm Shop - on the way home we saw our 1st sight this year of a really good show of a big drift of daffodils, out in the countryside and against a hedge where they must have planted them to be the first of the year!

Eldest went to their Northern Office today. We had pizza and cauliflower tonight, whilst Eldest had buttered toast before going out to a birthday party in Manchester.
