Morning all - Its been snowing here for the last hour but not settling.
The walks I go on are run by a group called Onelife - they are free but sponsered by the local council as a way of keeping people more healthy and are usually for 90 minutes and can be a variety of abilities. They publish 3 months walk in advance and are in all parts of Suffolk. I joined when I moved here and its been a great way of meeting people and getting to know different areas.
No coughing so much so hopefully I am on the mend. Hope you all stay healthy and warm.
O, LINDA. maybe you would be better not wearing earrings at all - then you would always know where they are - or could even declutter them!
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Glad you're on the mend, Harelady. Those walks sound like a jolly good idea. Not too long, so as to put you off, but a healthy outing. (I started to put "trip" but changed it to "outing" and it came out as "trouting!")
OG - I wore earrings only occasionally, for years. Then when I had my hair cut shorter, in my mid 40's I suppose, I could see my ears and I went mad and had them pierced. I thought at the time that two pairs for daytime and a few evening ones would suffice..... I dare not count them, now, but I can certainly ring the changes. But like shoes, you tend to wear out your favourites because you have them out so often. The best pierced ones just loop through your ear without a fastening, so you do not lose the tiny back part.
I also have a lot of scarves.........
I have quite a few single earrings, too, LINDY! I keep the 'good' ones for the odd celebratory occasions, these days. .
DIANE- The global markets are still falling. I'm hoping that it is just a correction since the FTSE100 has been at an all time high.
For me, earrings - no; shoes - no; but scarves - yes - I have at least seven! Although not much opportunity to use them now.
Snow gone, and roads and pavements actually dried out; however, scooter man late - urghgh - if there is any precipitation before he comes, he'll get an earful from me!
OG- motability in the news today, holding £2.4 billion in reserves, which seems a lot for a charity??? Hope you get your scooter trial.
I need my scarves! Don't often wear dressy ones but couldn't do without the warm ones at this time of year. Son bought me a very warm houndstooth check one, lovely, large but colours don't go with any coat or jacket that I possess...
Excuse for a new coat, Heather?? ;-)
Morning all: Thank you and yes, I'm taking care of myself and feeling much better yesterday and today, but giving the gym a miss this week.
PatO: Don't feel pressured for Cambodia updates and remember, it doesn't have to be a comprehensive tome, just a snippet now and then. :-)
Lindybird: OH and I really enjoyed John Mahoney (Frasier's Dad) in the show. That cast played off each other so well. When we're avoiding the Orange Menace, Frasier and Mash are our 'need a laugh for heaven's sake!' go-to reruns. Is anyone writing such witty, sharp scripts these days? Our Cooper's Hawk is much in evidence again and the birds are showing up in all kinds of fancy dress. Spring must be on its way (though it's more like summer here). Good you found somewhere to escape cabin-fever with kiddies. I'm sure you were distracted between the first and second earring; that sort of thing happens a lot when away from home/visitors, etc. I wear the same pair of earrings day in/day out, so that's one problem I don't have. Also use just one handbag and often the same two or three pairs of shoes (not all at once). :-)
Harelady: I like the idea of organized walks in the country; I think it would be a nice and easy way to meet people. Our local Sierra Club holds similar activities; although most of them involve hikes on fairly rugged trails with elevation changes - which don't appeal to m - or Friday evening walks that aren't convenient. Glad you're feeling better.
Heather: I heard a lot of the stock market activity involves computer-trading; also that it is indeed a 'correction.' Well, it's been going mad for some time.... I remember when I bought my house in Long Beach back in 1986, I got a mortgage at 10% interest, which was considered rather good in those days! Some time back, my UK family bought my OH a gorgeous cashmere scarf in colors he never wears - and this isn't exactly the climate for warm scarves, so it's just sitting there. I don't wear them much as they seem to be in my way all the time (don't like high-necked anything). Lindybird's suggestion for a new coat sounds like a good one!
Diane: Have set my phone to remind me about the Kennedy launch. That's a huge rocket!
Off to sort out the world, or at least the roses - have started some heavy pruning for the spring.
HEATHER - I do have two warm scarves as well as the more decorative ones to hide my neck! Demo went well - but deal still to be finalised - trying to co-ordinate scooter, hoist and car dealers!
ANNETTE - I think MASH was one of my favourites of all time!
We are now late making dinner cos the man came late, but the weather was okay, just very cold.
Annette and anyone else: The launch time for the Falcon Heavy rocket has been changed to 3:05 p.m. at the launch site in Florida. That's 8:05 p.m. in the UK and 12:05 p.m. in California.
All: I also love to watch MASH re-runs. I was crazy about that show. OG, it was also one of my all-time favorites.
