Forestry Commission England are exploring options, Richard. The nest withstood Storm Hector, which is a good sign re strength.

Are nests made by the ospreys less secure than nests built on platforms?

There isn't a 'yes' or 'no' answer to that question, Starling. It varies, and some natural nests do blow out. But Nest 5 has withstood some battering already.
