A fall seems a bit unlikely, they were 17 and 14 days old on 19 June and the survivor is still just shuffling around on his/her haunches. We'll never know, though.

Sorry to read this Jaydee   I hope all the others go on to fledge successfully.    It is my very first memory of Kielder back in 2011 or 12 when the chicks disappeared, or something like that happened I think.   All a bit of a mystery, the main thing is that none of the nests have failed and considering storm Hector that is a miracle in itself.   

Update on Nest 2

Thanks for the update, JD.  I've been away for a day so missed the missing chick announcement.  So sorry to hear it but as a sole chick it will now have all of the attention of its parents.  A bit like 33 at Rutland--he ended up as a sole chick after some disturbance on his natal nest and look at him now!  He possesses Rutland's best nest site!
