HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We begin the year with a Full Moon on the night between Monday and Tuesday. This Full Moon is also a so-called Supermoon, because it will occur just hours after the moon reaches perigee (its closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit).
I cherish you all, and I wish you a joyful, peaceful, healthy, and fulfilling 2018! Thank you for being my friends.
I see that there is a flood warning for the Solway Firth area, where OG and EE live. I seem to remember that their home is not generally at risk at these times, but thinking about them x
Anyone here like bitterns? You might want to look at this thread - the photography is absolutely wonderful.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Diane-Thanks for the wishes, always appreciated. You and I tend to share the same weather patterns. It actually hit -23 degrees last night but I see a slight warming trend and then we'll get snow again. I had to shovel 3 days in a row so I'm thinking I would rather have the cold as I can stay in (except for feeding the wildlife).
Diane- I actually worry more about you in this cold! I hope you have more than a space heater to keep warm. This is bitterly cold.
A great thread indeed Clare. May we look forward to more extensive comments on your future posts or will you stick to the 'one liners'! LoL
Birdies LG DU update.
Whistling Joe is much more imaginative than me. The one liners suit me just fine!

Great thread - so funny
Thanks, Clare
Went to visit our neighbours this morning - they gave us coffee, mince pies and nibbles and we discussed mutual friends and local affairs. They are both locals, born and bred, as is my OH, so some of the time they talk of people I don't know, having only lived in the town for a mere 42 years!
Did some housework (everything is looking dusty now) then went off in the rain to visit sis-in-law this afternoon. We took lots of cardboard boxes for her, as she's already packing for her move, although she doesn't have a date for it yet.
HEATHER - we shall be fine. Solway coast area is on flood alert, but this is for COASTAL flooding when gales coincide with extra-high spring tide at midnight today and through midday tomorrow. We are plenty far enough above sea level. Residents in estuary areas are being issued with sandbags, and Annan has been made a priority area, but this will not affect us at the TOP end of town. THANKS for thinking of us.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
