  • I braved the shops for necessary fruit & veg. Not many in shops but crazies in cars. One young woman driving through carpark with her eyes on phone in lap. I should have tapped on her window. Then coming home, an ambulance with siren & lights passed the other way. That was the signal for an idiot to change lanes cutting in in front of me. OK, it is hot today (36 by 10 am) is that an excuse? I listen to the news and its all doom & gloom – car crashes, drownings. Daily there are bushfires, 2 in vicinity of my parents’ former farm. Quickly under control with water bombers.

Dau#2 & Co went to her in-laws for Ch-mas lunch. Feeling guilty, she has invited all of us (a dozen) for lunch tomorrow. DIY rolls, she will provide various fillings. For dessert I suggested fruit, she has a watermelon, I’ve bought cherries & grapes. Grumpy OH is grumbling about another Ch-mas lunch. Shall I leave him home?

  • Just lost an entire very long post........

    Good  Morning. Frosty here.

I must confess that I brace myself whenever I post a number of photos.  Have you tried typing up a long post in Word and copying it across?

It's too damp to be frosty here and it's forecast to be a wet day.  Inevitably I'm on duty at Minsmere this afternoon - it'll be great to get out of the house but I could wish for better weather!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • I've just returned home. I will be back later to catch up.

AQ: It was -4 F or -20 C here this morning. The "feels like" temperature was -13 F or -25 C We had a little snow, so the roads are iced over and treacherous. I held my breath the entire time I was driving home! I'm going to wrap up all this miserably cold weather, put a late Christmas bow on it, and send it all to you. SO GET READY!

  • AQ: I was teasing, but seriously, I hope your family farm won't be threatened by the fires, and I hope you will be safe.

  • Diane - Cool package arrived overnight. Temp has dropped from 38 yesterday to 22 mid-morn. Firies react quickly now and farm safe. Off to Dau#2 for a 2nd Xmas. Grumpy has decided to stay home. And it's his relies!

  • AQ: I have a friend whose husband doesn't enjoy socializing. They were invited to some event at another friend's house and his response was "But I already know them....."

  • Good  Morning, All.  Chilly and frosty, here.

AQ -- Its hard when you don't both enjoy socialising. My father had to be dragged to events, whilst my poor mother was desperate for a bit of outside stimulation, after being stuck at home most of the time. Hope you enjoyed yourself with the family, and it was a bit cooler after Diane's kind shipment!

We went to a garden centre yesterday, where we forced down a naughty cake with our coffee, and I brought home a small tartan covered reindeer (stuffed!) and a cute mini handbag for future presents. My OH bought peas to plant at the allotment.
