Today's pic:
"Is it safe to come out?"
The Newgrange stream is live right now. The people are gathering for sunrise.
I tuned in, Diane, but the weather is too murky, as I expect you know. What a shame. It looks like an interesting place, though.
Just searched to find a Christmas pic to put on as my avatar for the season, but could only find this one of our garden holly berries taken in 2013!
Edit: the avatars come out so small, anyway, on this forum, that its hard to show anything really....
Lovely avatar, Lindy! Yup, too much cloud and dense fog in Ireland, but I got to see the beautiful Irish Wolfhounds!!! Yay! Newgrange was fascinating.
I saw the wolfhounds, too. They are gorgeous. My Friends sister once had one, they called her Kara. Sadly, they have a short life, like some large dogs do. :' - (
LINDY Friends have always had big dogs. Over many years they have had 2 Japanese Akitas and are now on Great Dane no 2. I love all those big dogs. It is just so hard that they have such a short lifespan.
We are not long back from town. We attacked M&S at 0830 (would you believe it opened at 0700!!) and it was very quiet. Two hours later the story was very different.
We had coffee and mince pies this morning and have booked to go to "The Dairy" at Daviot this afternoon.

On the positive side the days are about to start lengthening - it'll be March before we know it!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Hi all - I hope you are all holding on to your sanity in these final few days.
Like Clare, I think it is ridiculous that people get so stressed and feel like they have to panic buy. I can't think about the amount of food that will thrown away over the next week. I'm not a bah humbug I really love Christmas but not the commercial side.
I too tuned in to the Solstice from Ireland - its is on my and my Daughters bucket list of thing to go to, if we were lucky in the ballot, along with the Shetland Up Helly aa festival.
Also hope you all stay well as there seems to be some nasty bugs around at the moments.
Have a good day all.
HARELADY Do hope you get your wish of being in Shetland for UP HELLY AA. If you need accommodation remember to book early.
