HAPPY NEW WEEK!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
When I was young, I spent a lot of time on the Gulf coast of Florida. My then-husband had family there. I so loved watching the Gulf wildlife. Tonight, the area where I explored the wild is under a mandatory evacuation order. It's expected to be hit hard by the massive Hurricane Irma. (For perspective: Irma is bigger than France.) My thoughts are with the people and the wildlife throughout the southeast U.S.

What a shame the toe prevented your going to the concert. It sounds very painful, and it's surprising how a thing like that can make it hard to walk.
Heavy showers here. I'm busy trying on clothes and packing for our holiday which begins on Saturday. (Another cruise -- I'm so excited!)
LINDY Enjoy your cruise. Where are you going this time?
OG Hope J's toe is less painful now.
J had the dressing changed (actually by my phlebotomist because she was back today after her knee op so wasn't very busy) she said all was well, despite the bleed on Saturday, has given him spare dressings for the week, and will see him again Friday after work. He went into work after seeing her, as hoped. OH has gone to Dumfries shopping in Morrison's, but also Homebase for paint to do the hall and corridor so that we can then replace the carpet which is now so thin and stretched that I am finding it dangerous.
I have been able to rest so much over the weekend that I am feeling a lot better!
We had an RSPB appeal this morning, for buying extra land at Arne and I had an idea: I shall make a donation in memory of Margo, because it was local to her. This is totally informal, but I thought others might wish to think of it the same way.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
A lovely thought OG.
Birdies LG DU update.
Good that you feel so much better after a restful weekend, OG. :-)
That's a nice idea, about remembering Margo, I'll give it some thought.
Dibnlib: I hope you won't take this the wrong way, but as this is a public forum, I'd rather not say where we're going and for how long, until after we get back.
Shall await with interest. Just have a great time wherever you are.
Morning all: Thunderbolts and lightning; very very - exciting - all last evening and then again early this morning. Rain too. I stood outside under the front porch and watched the sky light up with almost constant flickers at one point. The main storm was offshore and they'd been warning about high waters in the channel all afternoon. They also were running Alert messages about potential flooding in burn areas throughout the evening to the extent that it was impossible to follow the plot of any TV program; at one point, we even got an "earthquake" warning which must've been a mistake - maybe they just wanted to see who was paying attention! Anyway, sunny today. There's definitely a different feel to the air this last week - one morning I went out and could smell the ocean. Marvelous. Fall must be on its way.
Have read everyone's news and taken note of various smells, sore bits and upcoming travel plans (how many pairs of shoes will Lindybird take? (Love the pony!) We should start a shoe pool a la 'when will EJ arrive' with guesses at types/colors/height of heels, etc. that she'll take on her various trips. Winner gets a weekend at the house in Wales. :-))
Off to Tai Chi class and yoga this afternoon with various desk projects in between...
LOL, Annette! -- I'll tell you what I've packed, later, when it's all been assembled. At the moment there's a big pile of stuff on the spare bed which are "might take" and a clothes rail up with the evening stuff hanging on it, which are "definites."
Always hard to decide how many warm things to take. Compromised a little by buying some camisole type vests to use as layers in case it's chilly. But there are four "Black Tie" type evenings, so I'm taking a couple of tops which can be used for other purposes, then be worn underneath a sequined jacket I have (which is itself only light). Also have bought this year lovely blue loose blouse/top which can look glam if wearing some nice jewellery with it.
Thank goodness for the present fashion for cut off trousers, which are so comfortable in the daytime! My shorts are all a little tight.....
Perhaps we can run a second prediction on how tight the shorts will be when LINDA comes home! I don't think I could cope with having dress etiquette prescribed - too much bother to call it a holiday, but if that "floats your boat" I hope it is everything you are looking forward to! When I pack, I fling in normal clothes other than what I am wearing or have in the wash!
