HAPPY NEW WEEK!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

I've chosen a deer picture this week, because a doe white-tailed deer and her twins have been visiting my house every night at dusk to eat my weeds. :-) The little male is very feisty and bold. His daddy is the impressive old buck who often sleeps in the brush by my garage.

Everyone here is eagerly awaiting the Total Solar Eclipse. At my house, the eclipse will be 93% total. I'm not going south to the path of totality.

Best wishes to everyone!

  • A beautiful window, AQ.  Nice that they managed to incorporate so many natural icons into the design.

Good Morning, Everyone.  Sunny start here.

Our Eldest and Amber are arriving tomorrow. His wife is in USA (Washington) on business so has contrived to escape the dust which is inevitable when the builders break through to join up the new extension and the existing. They'll probably stay until Saturday, so plenty of time to get to play with my darling granddaughter.

  • Today's pic:

    "Now, play nicely!"

  • Good morning all

A striking window, AQ. I didn't spot the emu at first when I looked - need new specs :)

Meant to say, LINDY, regarding one of your pics from yesterday. Any setting would benefit from having Monty Don in it! I think that I have what we used to call a 'crush' on him.

  • Good morning, all.  That church window is stunning, Aquilareen.

I spent a fair amount of yesterday afternoon at Felixstowe Ferry - click on our harbourmaster's boat to see a few more photos:

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Hi, Heather.  I looked twice to see the emu as well, but I had only had my eyes open for a few minutes this morning, at the time!  I like Monty Don as a garden adviser - but otherwise, he is not quite right for me! My Friend can't stand him at all, which just shows that we are all different.

OG  -  The flutterbye ladies were charming - they were dancers, and were pirouetting around. They must have been dispirited at the state of the weather, but were smiling. We missed seeing two beautiful ladies on stilts, dressed in huge frocks covered with sewn on flowers.  I glimpsed them on the TV but we saw no sign of them on the day.   (EDIT  - Meant to say, in my haste yesterday, that glad to hear your purchase of the extra wheelchair has been a success)

The sun is trying to shine here so I am filling the line, and dusting & cleaning ready for our invasion. My sweet peas tower is doing well this year, they must have liked the weather this time, after being disappointing last year.

Off to look at Clare's pics!

  • I must confess I've just had to Google Monty Don as I've never heard of him!  Sounds like a sensible enough bloke, and his first name will obviously get him off to a flying start with many posters in this part of the Community.

  • Hello!  Yesterday afternoon weather improved, then overnight rain continued up to breakfast time – OH reports 10 cm in two days (well, actually he said four inches as he still thinks in old measurements!)  Very nice out there now.  J is at the infirmary to meet with ophthalmologist who will run through the surgery plans with him – he’ll eat out again.  Hairdresser just left after tidying us up again; she was very chirpy this morning.

Heather – I saw your Daughter’s photos on Facebook this morning – Mia looks so grown up in her high school uniform; she is an attractive girl, and so tall!

AQ – liked the brightness of that window with the flora and fauna depicted.

Linda – a short visit by Amber and her father I see, but I am sure you will enjoy it.  I found Monty Don difficult to watch at first, but after a few years have got used to him – but not an avid watcher of Gardeners’ World, just occasionally catch it.  Pleased about your sweet peas – they are a plant with everything: height, colour, scent and picking quality.

Clare – I enjoyed your photos from Felixstowe Ferry.  The ferryman’s dog and his boat always look in such good condition, and the gulls are great.

So enjoyed an unplanned cheese sandwich last week, that we decided to have them again today, and I just saw the time!  Beef Bourgignon again tonight.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

LOL!   -  I nearly married someone called Monty!!  -  he did well for himself in the world of Estate Agency, after our engagement came to naught. Still remember being proposed to under the stars, in Italy, though --- <<s i g h>>  so romantic!!

OG  A cheese sandwich is a thing of beauty!

  • I love cheese.  I had cheese on toast for breakfast this morning......yummy!

  • I agree about the cheese - melted cheese on toast - all bubbly and scrumptious. May have to have it for my lunch now it has been mentioned.
