Hi everyone, a mixed day, intruders about, lots of shouting and shrieking and mantling. EJ and the young ones saw them off though.
Not sure how many fish, I think 4 were delivered. All had something to eat eventually, Greedy guts (#1) hogged fish when it could but I suppose that is the norm. Middle and younges still haven't fledged but whethe they will in the next few days who knows as the weather forecast is pretty grim for this part of the country
Leave you with the bairns all close together, sleeping. Happy viewing, see you in the morning.

Hi Everyone
There is an interesting thought from Patrizia From Spain on the main blog. She ( am taking a chance to think it is a woman) wonders If Odin is one of the offspring of the Lady at LOTL. She said Odin and the Lady look very similar and even their voices sound alike.
I have never seen the Lady at LOTL from the blind nor Odin at the LG site and cameras can be deceiving.
Apparently they do not ring many chicks at LOTL so it is possible a chick could return and no one would recognize it.
Anyone with more experience care to comment on this idea ?

Lynette: thanks for the summary. I saw some of the mantling and one fish being eaten, but only checked in for a short while. And now it's goodnight from you, and it's goodnight from me ;-)
Oh ALICAT: fantastic closeup shot on yesterday's thread, was that taken on a monitor at the Centre? It looks far too sharp to be a webcam capture. I've copied it, hope you don't mind.

I have a question for Cirrus
What does the "Normal 0 false false false" mean that is at the top of many of your message ?
Just curious :)
Morning all: Daylight creeping over the hills at LG. Two snoozing on the nest and one nodding off on the side...
Wow Barbara Jean: That's an intriguing notion about Odin and Lady being related! Heaven knows she's produced a lot of ospreys. Still, no way of knowing (unless they do DNA testing!) :-) Oh my - what a notion. Wouldn't that be interesting!
Alicat: Glad about your dog!
Jillian: Good to see you over here - stick around - and, oh yes, the only way to comment is to hit Reply!
Barbara Jean: Cirrus's posts often have that - no idea what it is, some kind of formatting blip.
How far is LOTL from LG?
In Roy Dennis' book he says that the young breeding Osprey return to the general area where they hatched, I think he said Males choose a nest about 10 kilometers from their brood nest . I have to double check the distance he said.
It rained very hard last night and the chicks look soaked this morning . The Day camera is on
Okay. Time for chicks to get up and stretch and flap (just as I'm slowing down). Yes BJ - hope it's OK if I call you that? If not, let me know, some people don't like being reduced to initials! :-) - they are indeed soaking.
Barbara Jean - My convert-anything-on-internet says Dunkeld (near LOTL) to Boat of Garten (near LG) is 53 miles (flying distance) and 61-67 miles (road distance). Oh dear it is raining on nest but that doesn't deter one from flapping vigorously.
Anyone know how being that wet affects their flying, if at all?
