12:07 a.m. (just after midnight Saturday night) in the eastern U.S.

9:07 p.m. Saturday night in California

The July Full Moon is traditionally called the Full Buck Moon or the Full Thunder Moon.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

  • Annette-I figured you meant independent LOL. I had a lift for my OH when I was caring for him. After he passed I donated everything. I cannot afford another one now and her insurance has not approved one for her. She would not be able to use a lift by herself. She was born with Cerebral Palsy and would not be able to navigate to her wheelchair on her own. My OH could help a little which enabled me to use one for him. Sorry for the long post.....

  • That's not a long post, bjane !! :-)

I only saw some disconnected bits of the tennis, as too much to do, here. Sorry to see Jo go out, but not too surprised.

Went to the town this morning, walking, and hoping to make it brief. Met a neighbour, however, who has not been well and so we had a talk about the ins and outs of the NHS followed by a decision on both our parts not to reach the age of 101, as has a friend of hers who she had just been visiting. Not a great quality of life, alas. Then I scuttled there and back for my errands, as the skies went very dark, however it stayed dry.

Have packed up lots of china, wondering if I need it these days as we rarely entertain. Seem to have a lot of dishes and bowls for nuts etc!!

My Friend's daughter has just rung to say that her operation went well today, and she's now in the high dependency unit. Hopefully it won't be too long before she's back home.

  • I think this will have to be a quick catch-up on recent posts and hope not to miss anything important, otherwise I shall gradually slip further behind.

AQ – sorry your trip was postponed – I hope your friend is well again now.

Heather – good to see you are so pleased with your garden now!

Diane – I hope your creek didn’t flood on your land.

Wendy – sorry Daisy has to wait until Tuesday for the removal of the cyst, but I assume the ABs will help the pain as they act on the infection.

BJane – re early marriages bringing GChildren and GGChildren – we married at 20 and had first at 21 and her Sister at 24 (J didn’t happen till we were 31).  Daughter#2 had first at 17, but he is now27 and had our GGDaughter last November.

Linda - glad you didn't get anything nasty from the clouds - been quite breezy here, but still dry.

After hairdresser visit Tuesday, we had podiatrist Wednesday.  Today OH helped at church lunch preparation and then fetched me for the meal; I had a very nice Mushroom Quiche Salad (that is to make Diane jealous!).  A lot of gardening has been happening to tidy up the “bird patch” at one end of the deck and set up their new feeding station, which we bought about a year ago!  The old one has served them very well but is now destined for the tip.  I helped more with the cooking yesterday, but left it to OH today as it was a recipe he chose, and I was very tired from going out.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • OG -- We crossed when writing as I've added a postscript about my Friend. Can see  that you've been busy too!!

    Love the picture of Miriam!!

  • Hi, am at end of lovely 5 night break near Loch of the Lowes,  mainly nice weather too! It is such agood place to see the ospreys and other wildlife. Today met a couple from near Foulshaw who told me the best place to see an adder! My broadband was playing up at home but got sent a new router and hope it is OK now!

  • OG   What a little beauty.

  • Nice to hear from you, Chrisy. You are lucky to have the weather!

  • HeatherB - I married young too at 21 and had my first at 23. He went on to marry an older divorced girl (who had had a dau with previous partner) and neither wanted children. Dau now 40 and has not met anyone yet so unfortunately grandchildren are off the radar.  It is lovely to hear about everybody elses though.

Managed another swim today. See that Johanna is out and that Chris Froome has lost his Yellow Jersey status in Tour de France.

  • AQ - nice to see that you are watching the Tour de France, I tend to pick it up in the afternoons and watch the highlights which I tape.

OG - hope you enjoyed the lunch

    Lindy.  love the pic.

  • ChrisyB - hope you enjoyed your break and saw the ospreys.
