Oh! crickey -- I don't know what I'm doing, these days Heather!
Hope all goes well today. It will be good when you can feel that everything's sorted.
Good afternoon. Wet, on and off. Rain is less persistent and mostly less heavy than forecast. GP visit is at 3:10pm. OH is ironing. I did help skin some of our many garden tomatoes for freezing - and some for J to have (he's only allergic to them raw) in a meal tomorrow lunchtime when the two of us are out with the General Interest Group. Also enjoying courgettes, and going to try our potatoes later this week.
MULBERRY - I had heard of your loss (via NiteOwl). I always was very fond of Jess, just through your photos and videos. So sad for you - special thoughts.
LINDA- I enjoyed the Sweet Peas both times - especially those lovely dark ones.
Thinking of HEATHER and HARELADY.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Well, ordeal at solicitor's office is over until the next time. I hate looking across the table at the file he has in front of him, with my OH's Will stapled to the cover. He knows that I am struggling with emotions as he speaks and I know that he must have many interviews like this. It is a tribute to him that I don't have to drag the tissue out of my jacket pocket....
Heather -- I know it's of no help, but I do think I'd be the same.......
Hopefully you're nearing the end of the hateful paperwork now {{HUGS}}
We've been to choose a new dining room carpet. There are a couple of unremoveable stains on the one we have, which was not expensive and was put down in the summer of 2003 when we moved here. So it's worn well, really, as it's the way through to both the kitchen and conservatory and gets a lot of traffic. I wanted a similar rust colour to the existing, as it's a Mediterranean themed room with pale yellow walls and pictures of the blue sea, plus some pretty green and blue china plates on the wall. But in the showroom it was a sea of pebble and beige carpets which are popular at the moment. In the end, after looking around the entire place, we chose a sort of pebbley stony, beige mixture with a texture to it. Now I have to live in fear until it's put down, which could be 3 weeks from now.
Also, there will be the job of dismantling a huge heavy dresser type piece of furniture where we keep our glassware in glass fronted cupboards, plus a long sideboard full of all kinds of china, dinner service, and serving plates etc. Wish it didn't have to be done!
Here's another pic for today, especially for OG, who liked my pic of a white flower on Facebook --
Here it is again, another one of the same plant:
Can't see the picture at the moment, Lindy - hope it reappears at some stage! This is such a pain ...
Morning all and thanks for July 4 greetings. For me, it's a bit like Thanksgiving - didn't grow up with it so don't have any real attachment. Went for a walk and plan to do Garden Stuff today...but as Lindybird noted, Wimbledon is underway and we do get it live, so I can see my morning plans getting disrupted!
Mulberry: So sorry about Jess - we've had similar accidents here, with dogs going over the side of a cliff at a local preserve. You wonder how it could happen, but your explanation seems reasonable. They are such trusting creatures and so busy smelling smells - who'd think that the ground would be so unreliable. :-(
Lindybird: Your original sweet peas were likely among those photos that seem to come and go these days. Can't blame you for not knowing what or where! I know what you mean about carpeting - there's this unreasonable (or maybe reasonable) fear that it will look Entirely Different once it's down. But trust your instincts; it'll be fine once you get used to it.
OG: Nice to read of all your veggie doings - sounds like you're almost back to normal.
Heather: Hope not too many more solicitor visits on the agenda.
Off to sort out the world.
LINDY- Sorry to say but terracotta/rust carpet sounds much more in keeping than the ubiquitous beige that all the shops are pushing right now.
Sorry if the pic has disappeared. I can't even see it myself, now!!
Heather - We liked the terracotta tile comparison when it went down the first time. But things are never permanent, are they? : we have to embrace change, so they say. I chose a colour today which had flecks of other colours in it, to allow for any debris brought in from the garden by a certain four legged person. My OH said "We need something Spaniel coloured!".
I've been planting out some Mallow plants which I bought as small "plug" plants. We grew them on in small pots, and now they're in bigger ones, plus one plant is already in the flower border. They're in three different colours, some whitish soft pink and some a deep pink, so I'm looking forward to seeing them in bloom.
