WEEKLY CHAT (non-osprey) SUNDAY JUNE 25, 2017

Welcome to the new week everyone.  Harelady updated us on her return to Suffolk today (Sunday) and she'll be returning to London next Sunday for funeral services the following week.

Lindybird: Thanks for the lovely photo of the poppy.

Pat O:  I enjoyed reading about your power-golfing holiday. Hope you have a good trip home.

OG: When do you expect the deck to be done?  (Is it a wooden deck or a patio area?)

AQ: Disconcerting that the snowflakes (snowdrops?) are so very early.

Meanwhile, while took Ms D up to the local Natural History Museum last week where, among other things, we enjoyed a visit with some injured and rescued raptors, now living happily ever after in the museum's gorgeous grounds.  In the first photo, Ms. D is cozying up to a peregrine falcon that had been shot (she looks a little uncertain, but I know the guy who handles it and he assured me there was no problem).  In the second photo, she's looking a lot happier being friendly with a gorgeous barn owl.

  • Good Morning, All.  A bit grey here, again, and I've overslept as my OH has gone off to golf without waking me up.

The Emergency Committee Meeting was duly held, with all members (two.....) voting to get the old car off to the mechanics to pronounce on possible scenarios.

It's booked in for next Wednesday, so it's wait and see.

  • Quiet on here, today.  I've been doing lots of little things.

Heather - Hope your daughter can sort things out. An anxious time for her, as it's so important.

OG - Good that the workmen are cracking on with the decking. How nice it will be for you all, when it's finished! Hope the weather is good enough for you to sit out on it, when all is done.

Spoke to my Friend - she is going to have her other new knee in July, so has mixed feelings as of course she'll find it hard to get around and it might be painful. I'm relieved, though, as she is really struggling just now, with it. We are hoping to get out to a cinema outing tomorrow - I'll give a report on it, if we do.

  • Hi, ALL.  Back to wet weather so no decking progress today - looks more like a swimming pool under there now!

Went to my Rheumatology appointment today.  As expected, starting back on the treatment which had to be discontinued - also as expected, starting on low dose and fortnightly blood tests, but once back to stable maintenance dose tests will now be every twelve weeks as the protocol has changed from four.  Inflammation levels are not currently as bad as may have been expected, so am doing okay.

Having a quiet afternoon; been advising OH on J's birthday dinner, but no other plans.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Hi all.

Annette, lovely pics of Ms.D and the raptors. I'm sure she enjoyed her visit. Thanks also for the news re Harelady. It will be a very emotional time for her at present.

Lindy - delightful pic of piglet

OG - looks like you and OH have your hands full.

Forestboar - At least now you more or less know where you are and that things are progressing forward if somewhat slow. All the best for a favourable outcome.

Not a lot been happening here other than OH has been going down to County Ground to do some commentating in weather akin to March. We have lost the sunshine for the last 3 days and it has gone quite cool. Shouldn't complain though as I hate the really hot weather. I am now walking around in the house without my boot on as toe seems to be a lot better. Testing the waters so to speak and so far so good.

  • OG - pleased to hear all went well at the hospital.  Well done you for the hard work you've put in.

Lindybird - glad you have managed to visit Glaslyn. We did last year when we were staying on the Lleyn Peninsula.  Gravel carpark and then over a bridge to the hut where the observation platform is.  Set in beautiful countryside.   I see you visited Blackrock Sands - memories of family holidays in the area. Pictures of Amber are delightful, my how she is growing up.

AQ - always nice to meet up with a friend, looks like you had a good time.

HeatherB - looks like your middle daughter is having a bit of a nightmare with the benefits agency - do hope that they sort things properly for her and that she can feel a little more settled until she is allocated social housing.

  • Pat O - looks like you had a really lovely holiday but as always a lot of washing to do when one gets back.

Harelady - good to hear from you. Memories are stored and you will always have those to look back on.  Its nice that the family are rallying round sending each other pics of happier times. Will keep you in mind.

A lovely thing happened the other day. Someone has been trying to contact me re my dad and hers (they both served on HMS Ramilies during the 2ndWW) She had written an autobiography about him and wanted to confirm I was the same person (gleaned through BBC Peoples War) I was happy to and sent her my fathers diary of D_Day events and also his diary of the next assignment - Operation Dragoon.  We have now exchanged emails and she lives in California. Small world. Her dad came from Warrington just up the road from my home village Worsley.

Its been lovely reading your news.

  • OG - glad to hear that all going well re rheumatology clinic.

Hope that J enjoyed his birthday.

HeatherB - let's hope dau has learnt something re recent events. You can't always win when its government controlled!!!!

  • Lynette - pleased the toe is healing and the boot off around the house.  Interesting about the WW2 connection and where the two came from.

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Good morning everyone

Thanks for all your news, have enjoyed reading.

Very unmotivated yesterday, rain all day and it is still wet outside. Temperature didn't get much above 10 degrees and I gave in and put the heating on in the late afternoon. Unheard of in June?

OG- pleased all went well at Rheumatology. Also good to read that J has a new contract. I don't know about nurseries but read in the newspaper yesterday that some children are still in nappies well into primary school.....

LINDY- Maybe something can be done with the car. I think you would need a car each because of golfing and visits to the allotment.

LYNETTE-  pleased that you are able to leave the boot off when in the house! Do be careful, though.

Life here trundles on. I have to meet with the solicitor on Tuesday to sign some paperwork in connection with the house.

This morning, off to Elgin for Mia's last day at primary school. First to the church for a service at 11am and then prizegiving this afternoon in the school.

    Regards to all
