So Saturday, Darvic Blue Ring FC8 visits, and an unringed male visited with a fish, but no transfer occurred until EJ found it later on the nest. Then yesterday, Blue FC8 visits again and elicits confirmation from LG about the ring number in this blog entry. Then the unringed male shows up again [BNN's video]. Darvic FC8
unringed maleNo one knows who either of these birds are, and EJ seems to be checking them both out. What a hot Mama she is! I am looking forward at least to finding out the ID for FC8 soon, but I'm sure LG is on it. I'm miffed that they waited until I was outta town to show themselves, but delighted that the team of experts on this forum documented every move (despite obstacles!). In the meantime, will one or the other of them try showing up with fish again?
As scylla says, this must be an example how partnerships are formed after breeding season is over at the nest site.
Here's scylla's last video of Saturday evening when EJ and FC8 were on the nest for an extended time during which FC8 is wondering if she will accept his advances, but she eventually flaps him off the nest, apparently since he had no fish. HOWEVER, at the very end of this video, she leans waaaaay over the edge of the nest to successfully pull up a headless trout.

Hi all. Great start to the day CC, and brilliant catch up pics and vids Scylla. Thank you.
I have been lurking since about 7am, and have seen no one :o((
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
Still now't to report. Heavy rain showers with wind and sunny spells.
Cam has remained on the empty nest :o((

On the strength of assuming you were out there, plus Mike and Patily, I only searched the sound up to 0800hr. In future I may be able to recognise what a Willow Warbler's song looks like ;)

Darn it! I love your meticulous commentaries, SHEILA :-* Have a great time anyway.
As for a new partner for EJ, I'd like it to be FC8 because we have a chance of getting to know "who he is" and he resembles you-know-who, but only the less attractive (not his fault) unringed male has shown up with fish.
Thank you MOFFER !!!
(I've got an unexpected visitor so only just got your msg.)
Hey Scylla, i love the pictures, but they may be in the wrong thread?
[edited because it has all been rectified]
2016: first time in history an Osprey nested in the NL. 2018: 2 active nests! 2019 a storm interferes. 2020: a third active nest in a tree!
I have only run into ENS today and yesterday, amidst the things of life keeping me way too busy for my liking. Glad for all your reports and searches for touch-downs. :*
I've got EJ on my mind though...
OM, EJ was seen early this morning, on her nest. No sign since.
Scylla has posted on the wrong thread. She covers so many nests, that it is totally understandable.
Thanks again, MOFFER, and apologies to all :)
I'm off to deal with my guest again.
I'm off for a while, but recording.
