NEW CHAT THREADThis is the new thread for the week. I am watching the news of the terror attacks in London. I don't think it's appropriate to post my usual wishes for a happy new week along with a cheerful photo. I will simply say that my thoughts are with all of my dear friends in the U.K. I hope you all stay safe.
Evening all:
Lindybird: Love the ponies!
PatO: Glad you like the "opera."
dibnlib: La Boheme is my favorite opera. I've seen various versions of it (traditional and modern).
Heather/OG: Glad thiings are progressing with your various issues and projects.
Lynette: You have been in the wars. These tumbles (as OG can attest) can really mess us up. Take care.
Hi to AQ and Wendy.
Really busy morning with daughter, but we got everything done in spite of all kinds of changes in schedule. Tomorrow we have nothing planned - hurray!
Take care everyone.
Lynette – Ouch! Do take care. I’m very conscious now of how easily one can fall.
.
Annette - Rossini is brilliant.
I arrived for nanny duty yesterday to find Twinnies both fast asleep in parents’ bed. Dau flew out to shops on way to school pickup. I washed dishes and then had nothing to do for an hour until Little People woke. They were just as excited at our b-day gifts (clothes) as if they were toys. I had some quiet moments with them reading and singing rhymes. I must try to remember some more rhymes. Later the scene became chaotic while Dau prepared tea and I gathered stuff for creche, tried to make giggling ones eat, clothe them warmly, bundle them into car, before escaping. Thank goodness only 2 more weeks of this parenting course. Dau too rushed to explain to me if she’s learnt anything useful. She probably snoozes through the session LOL.
Misses had their 3rd b-day party last weekend. Dau invited a few friends with kids similar age. It was a farm scene. A lady with farm animals was hired. She brought chicks, rabbits, guinea pigs, a dog, sheep, goats, a young pig, an alpaca (!) and a young cow (!!!). All in pens in Dau’s tiny backyard. My mind boggles as to what she can dream up for their next party!
Good morning everyone
It is a cool seven degrees here this morning. I went downstairs just before 7 to make my coffee and was sorely tempted to put the heating on. Didn't though, just brought my coffee back to bed with me.
LYNETTE - so sorry to read about both you and the car being in the wars. Thank goodness no major damage to you but you must have been very shaken up.
ANNETTE- you will need a rest soon, sounds as if you have a lot to get done this week.
AQ- It is funny, I found myself with an 'earworm' the other day. It was a story poem that my eldest never tired of hearing 'lazy little piggly wiggly often stayed in bed to snore' etc etc. A Ladybird book called Piggly plays truant.
Your daughter certainly has her hands full, it's all too easy to forget just how tiring and frustrating it can be, looking after little ones. Out of my four children, only one was a 'quiet child'. She certainly didn't take after me. I was mischief personified, apparently.
OG- I am curious as to why you didn't have your hair cut back to it's former length the first time! Was it because you might have felt cold? I know that I've heard folk say that.
Haven't yet decided what to do, today. The sun is trying to come out so may get some outside work done before the next band of weather gets here.
WENDY - pleased to see you were okay in the deluge - I think you have a better day today up there than ours here.
LYNETTE - sorry about car damage and the results of your fall, which sound nasty. If you get any pain around that left knee, do get it checked out again - we are sure my leg was damaged about six weeks before worsening to a fracture. are you on crutches with the rocking boot?
AQ - Pleased you managed Nanny Day but rejoicing with you that the classes are nearly done. What a party they had! I wonder who dreams up these money-making schemes to make parents so competitive? Jelly, cake and a few friends should be enough for three-year-olds.
HEATHER - reason not to cut hair short when I first came home was that I was wary of a sudden change - after always wearing it quite long I was getting used to it, although I knew that I really wanted it short again; also Nicole was worried that if she cut off all the long curls at once, I might regret it ( it redeveloped its former curls while I was in hospital).
Back to wet weather today, so work on the deck is unlikely to start. OH will take the opportunity of a non-gardening day to clean the bedrooms.
I wonder where LINDA is last evening and this morning? I hope she is okay.
Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!
Just seen a male Linnet feeding with the Goldfinches.
OG- I am also wondering about LINDY.
What's a posting pattern Heather :-) :-)
Ha ha WENDY - you saw it! I thought it sounded stupid so deleted it...
Sorry -- Just been busy - I'm OK!
Thank goodness!!
