There are several nests with healthy active bobbleheads which we will be watching with interest this summer. We expect a fine show of fledglings during late June & July, with many strong beautiful juvenile osprey migrating to their winter homes in Africa come August and September.
I do hope you will still find this a place to share any news of the osprey world that is of interest to you as well as other matters of interest. If anything pops up on Facebook I'll post it here.
Yes, I was well aware that my pretty picture was of an empty nest at the time. We have seen more empty nests since the fledging started back in July. Now in the middle of August we will be seeing more and more nests empty for the winter as the parents and youngsters start their migrations southward. One thought: I am not faced with the grief of parting with our Lock Garten family this Fall as tht hs already happened.
Dyfi are reporting that one of the young Aeron has not been seen since 08:00 Sunday morning.
Has he gone - We'll keep an eye out for him today, look everywhere we can, and let you know tonight.

KEITH: Keith, seems you planned to go osprey watching today. Did you spot the young Aeron? It is already getting late in your part of the planet, so I won't necessarily expect a report yet this evening. But tomorrow I will still be expecting to hear from you regarding your findings, as you mentioned above.
JUNE - I was quoting DOP.
DOP have reported back this evening that four ospreys present and correct minus Aeron so we expect he has migrated.
I am two countries away from Dyfi and over 350 miles away. Only go to DOP when I am on business in Wales.
Think I did too much osprey watching Saturday. My wife wanted to collect some sprigs of heather and what was a trip to Loch Drunkie ended in 6 Lochs - A lake and A River.
Too wet tonight so a planned evening run to LOTL and Strathallan suspended.
May have to go to Oman on Wednesday and most will have departed when I get back.
My goodnes, you certainly get around, Keith. A friend in Northumblerland posted some beautiful pics of the heather in bloom on the hills. I am heading that way in September, but whether the colour will be as vivid, I rather doubt.

Keith I know that Dyfi is further away and is a work visit for you. But I wasn't reading carefully enough and thought you were going out to some of the nests near you. So thanks for clarifying.
Having said that, after 9 years of watching, talking, looking at maps and much streetwalking I still have trouble calculating distance, travel time and even direction in the UK. From my perspective ALL of the Atlantic Ocean is to our East and the coast of the Atlantic Ocean is the EASTERN USA Coast. But all that turns around in UK and Africa, where the Atlantic coast is the WEST Coast. So often I have wished I had same-scale transparent maps of Scotland and Ohio, so I could superimpose one over the other for comparison.
JUNE - I always go out to nests near me but not permitted to report them. I have two nests now within 5 miles of my home and the third 10 miles away so if it is a nice evening quite happy to take a walk.
SHIELA FE - I admire The Heather in full bloom as much as I admire the ospreys a magnificent sight. The aim is to see the ospreys flying with the heather in the background. Last week watched the ospreys at LOTL fly past low around the purple hillside as backdrop (Even better than a sky view). I would say give the heather another week at LOTL hills but then the ospreys have gone and when they fledge again next year the heather is not in full bloom. Even the visitors in the hide that day some as far away as Devon admired the ospreys flying past the purple hills expressing what a wonder the two together ospreys and heather.
Haste Ye Back (Ospreys) - all around the purple heather will you Go Lassie (LF15) Go.
Good morning to all. A lovely calm sunny morning. Have enjoyed reading this ,fairy tale , discussion. Every one is entitled to their thoughts and opinions that what's makes a lively discussion. I'm sure nobody meant to crtisize Chris. He was just trying to lighten up a horrible situation. A nd who knows nobody knows for sure that ospreys do not retire! I and probably everyone on here has enjoyed and appreciated Chris's blogs.
Absolutely no offence was meant. It has been a season of very mixed fortunes this year. Nobody knows what has happened to EJ and Odin. So speculation is good we can create what we like!!
Everyone's comments are welcomed here ☺
Thankyou Lumpy for the best wishes. Same to you.
