There are several nests with healthy active bobbleheads which we will be watching with interest this summer. We expect a fine show of fledglings during late June & July, with many strong beautiful juvenile osprey migrating to their winter homes in Africa come August and September.
I do hope you will still find this a place to share any news of the osprey world that is of interest to you as well as other matters of interest. If anything pops up on Facebook I'll post it here.
I hear every day the sound of juvenile buzzards and they are really noisy! I think they are yelling to be fed by their parent. We hear this every year and the yelling seems to go on till the following breeding season. The last year ones seem to replaced with new youngsters. Love to hear them and see them fly over my garden. They must be doing well! Hopefully they will not be poisoned as they shoot pheasants round here! They are a magnificent bird.
Quote: "Good evening all. It's always nice to think the best scenario. I too love fairy tales and Disney too. I think with ospreys now I have learned to expect the unexpected! We are learning something new about these beautiful birds all the time! They even confound the experts! Hope that remains the case and there's always a little of the unknown! :)"
Willow, I love this comment. Certainly I have learned to expect the unexpected with ospreys. And yes, I very much hope there will always be a bit of mystery as to their behavior.

And for JUNE and her Wish upon a Star for Spring 2018.
I will quote from Gill Lewis - SKY HAWK and you may relate this to EJ.
The pattern of this landscape is folded deep, deep within her memory. She rides the currents of air that curl like rapids over the mountains. Below, the lochs reflect the cloud and sunlight. They lie in the valleys like scattered fragments of fallen sky. The cold north wind carries the remembered scent of pine and heather. The ice carved valley guides her.
SHE IS COMING
Keith, this is lovely literature - paints a marvelous word picture, Which I don't get many of anymore.
As for what I wish for Spring,2018 -I really don't know. Will finish later. Must go now.
Having volunteered at LG for many years I think I know Chris who wrote the latest (and Other) blogs very well . He is one of the very nicest people I know and if people have watched him in the centre they know he is brilliant with everyone who arrives there , especially children with whom he engages with , surely softening the blow of a hard season for all of us does no harm and we should remember that the 'staff' are human and have had to deal with so much this year as well as maybe having their own personal problems to deal with as well . Chris was actually saying how he wants think' I'll imagine her: perched on a branch overlooking a beautiful mangrove swamp, the sun streaming down on her feathers and a large fish clutched in her talons ' so what to some people want him to say !!!! do you want him to tell the harsh truth ? well I don't for one , I am with Chris totally , I have been with LG and Odin and EJ since 2009 and I will support them in all they do , for goodness sake life is too serious lets lighten the way we think and have fun surely not much to ask , lets not analyse each word and take it in the spirit it is meant . So Chris if you read this don't dare stop your wonderful blogs they are fun and informative so a big big thank you from me .
Valerie
Valerie, I cannot imagine what in the world you are talking about. I see nothing in any of the comments here that could by any stretch of the imagination be considered as even slight criticism of Chris or any of the staff. We were simply expressing among friends thoughts and feelings about what has been a very stressful season for me and I think for many of us. If we can relieve some of this stress by talking about it, I can't see why you would want to condemn that.
Sorry June but it is my personal opinion that some comments talking about 'fairy tales ' etc are a criticism . It has been a very stressful season for the staff at LG having to deal with the public and answer questions . I have not condemned the 'talking about it ' in any way just stating that some comments seem to be saying Chris's blog is a fairy tale , I would just like to see a happier more lighthearted approach in blogs like Chris does , life is too serious . Smile be happy and have a great day .
VALERIE - Same story from you as you have done on the past here.
However Thank you for posting Have a Great Day - Had a great day yesterday viewing many ospreys in and around The Trossachs and Yes will have a great day today a game of golf followed by an evening watching more ospreys.
Maybe then settle to read a good book like AA Milne's - Winnie the Pooh. However if I want to educate myself on ospreys I would not chose a fictitious book.
I was at a centre yesterday where a visitor questioned a member of staff saying they read ospreys retire. Now we know where they read this - I expect RSPB to educate as fact.
I have no criticism regarding any member of staff and the blog is RSPB which I have criticism of regarding this. I realise it has not been a great year for LG but then ospreys are not a stage show either and they should all be prepared for these events.
Hi June,Keith,Susan, and 58Willow I hope you have had a very good season to best wishers to you all.

(I hope you have had a very good season) - I guess you are referring to the osprey season in which case I will say "Yes" a Good Season.
There has been ups and downs as there always is and always will be as ospreys are not stage actors and I accept this but overall the season has been good. However it is far from finished. Yesterday I was out and about The Lomond and Trossachs area where some ospreys have only just fledged in the past week so will be with us some time yet and at the same time LOTL again fairly close is about to bring the curtain down for the season.
You should be seeing a few ospreys down your end over the next weeks as they make their way south and will say Haste Ye Back.
