There are several nests with healthy active bobbleheads which we will be watching with interest this summer. We expect a fine show of fledglings during late June & July, with many strong beautiful juvenile osprey migrating to their winter homes in Africa come August and September.
I do hope you will still find this a place to share any news of the osprey world that is of interest to you as well as other matters of interest. If anything pops up on Facebook I'll post it here.
The nest a few minutes ago. Picture failed to pick up the tall blades of grass blowing in the wind.
A capture of LG nest at sunrise through rain, two years ago. I posted this on Facebook on June 1st, 2015. Unfortunately 2015 also was an empty nest season for Loch Garten. The eggs had been kicked out/destroyed in mating rivalry.
This morning the rising sun through raindrops on the cam lens created a lovely blur of colors resembling a modernistic water color painting. As the drops slid downward and new drops came it made a lovely shifting panorama for several minutes until the natural light changed.
Thanks for the new thread, June. Fingers crossed that all goes well for the LG nest next year. In the meantime I will be watching a few other nests and looking forward to more feeding, fledgings and migrations.
Kind regards, Ann
Somebody within camera range, peacefully eating a fish EJ?
Yes it is EJ. She's been there most of the day doing the same!
Birdies LG DU update.
Good afternoon all. Just have seen how quickly the chicks are growing quite shocked as not been in for a while. Chicks at Manton Bay are already flapping those now wings :)
It seems though 5F has abandoned her eggs at Glaslyn which is a bit of a blessing. She has probably gone fishing for herself. Hope she will have a better year nxt year. Got some catching up to do :)
Its so nice to see EJ on the nest! Dont like seeing the empty nest with the long grass blowing in the wind. I wonder if the distant sky dancer could be Odin or wishful thinking :(
Wishful thinking, I'm afraid. But then, I'm pessimistic by nature and am always glad to be wrong. Especially in this case. It would be wonderful to see Odin back at the nest strong and healthy.
This link is live. Just click it for a video of the three chicks at Dyfi. From Facebook
