Odin not seen since 18 May 2017 early afternoon --- 3 days. We have one chick left, no fish deliveries, and an unringed male hanging about the nest. I am personally moved by the greatest forum participants I have ever seen. Many opinions expressed with no personal rancor in the disagreements. I believe all are opening their hearts and minds in a fervent unified wish for the best for EJ. As one forum poster said, "If only EJ knew how many are thinking of her." I am back in town and stricken to see all the news, yet so very honored to be in the company of such courageous nature watchers. Thank you all.
At this moment EJ is sleeping on a mercifully quiet nest with a light wind but no precipitation. May she have peaceful dreams that come true for her.© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild

Okay - I must try to get a few winks now. My prayers for EJ and Odin.
Thank you all. I am gutted but hope EJ is ok.
I was once told - probably around the time Lady was very ill on her nest in 2010, that ospreys won't go for more than three days without food. I wonder if she absorbed rainwater somehow as EJ went without for much longer than that.
Also, despite her age, all chicks hatched. Some bit of me wishes that they didn't all hatch, just so that we didn't have to watch all three chicks starve.
Sorry, not taking this well.

Such a sad sight. Tears in my eyes this morning. :( RIP little one.
EJ can now eat and keep herself strong, in readiness for the migration in time. Just praying that Odin is ok, whereever he is.
Morning. What a sad sight to wake up to. What we expected but still not nice. I hope EJ is fishing and that she is OK. I hope everyone here is OK too.
Unringed intruder was on the nest briefly @ 0748hr, and I just heard an alarm chirp... and here he is now! And off again!

Thanks everyone for all the updates.
I cannot bring myself to say Good Morning for it doesn't feel good but I am relieved seeing the nest empty knowing the chick's suffering is now at an end and at last is at peace.
At least in the short time they lived they knew love from a devoted mother who stayed with them all their lives.
I now hope EJ heals and that Odin is OK.

Thank you, Rusty :) Same to you.
Hi all
Have been following this sad story silently, but many thanks to everyone who has been posting updates.
Stingray - remember adult ospreys go for a week or more without food or water, while crossing the Sahara on migration. So I think EJ will be OK - hope we see her again before too long though.
I havent posted for a whil
