Odin not seen since 18 May 2017 early afternoon --- 3 days. We have one chick left, no fish deliveries, and an unringed male hanging about the nest. I am personally moved by the greatest forum participants I have ever seen. Many opinions expressed with no personal rancor in the disagreements. I believe all are opening their hearts and minds in a fervent unified wish for the best for EJ. As one forum poster said, "If only EJ knew how many are thinking of her." I am back in town and stricken to see all the news, yet so very honored to be in the company of such courageous nature watchers. Thank you all.
At this moment EJ is sleeping on a mercifully quiet nest with a light wind but no precipitation. May she have peaceful dreams that come true for her.© RSPB - Loch Garten and Carnyx Wild

This is the first time I have managed to looked in over the past couple of days It was heart breaking to hear about the deaths of those lovely chicks. EJ has got to think of herself now and build up her own strengh, and you never know ODIN might still return, but regardless what happens the rest of this season I am sure EJ will return again next year. One question if I may has she removed the chicks from the nest?
Hi Maj. I know she removed the first two chicks, but the cam went down earlir, so we don't know about the third one. I suspect she did.
Birdie Num Num's brilliant DU summary 2017
I fully support the RSPB in this very difficult situation. Nature happens every day of the year in a life and death situation. I watch Springwatch every year on the BBC and the young birds in there nests on the live webcams and some of the young birds die as well as live and you can't expect interventions to hopefully to see the birds survive that do tragically die. The same has to be said about the young Ospreys at Loch Garten. You can't expect the RSPB to intervene just because they are Ospreys, as the same could be said of every small or large wild birds nesting on RSPB reserves or elsewhere. I'm sorry if i seem hard hearted, but that's nature.
Regards,
Ian.
Thank you Moffer, but I don't suppose she will return to the nest very much now.
