  • So sorry for yet another brief post but have enjoyed reading, especially AQ and ANNETTES reply to her.

I've been working in the garden for most of the day, it has been hot so have taken shady breaks in the sittooterie.

Going to Edinburgh tomorrow with OHs family. Back Sunday.

Take care, all. I'm hoping that GEORGE is OK.

    I

  • How nice, Heather - do enjoy your weekend.

I started doing the garden but it got too hot, so I gave up and read the 135 emails I've had whilst away. Then I put away some of the stuff we brought back home, and put on the line the things I've washed - 3 w. machine loads!  Been out for food shopping: hardly anyone in the supermarket car park, so folks are staying at home today in the heat. The hottest day so far, this year, but tomorrow is predicted to be hotter still!

The 'new' neighbours next door have just had a little girl. I sneaked round and put a home made card through their door. Lots of visitors this afternoon, so I guess the relatives have been calling.

  • I hope George is alright, too. Not heard from you for a bit, George!

  • Good Morning, All.  Supposed to be Very Hot here today, so not expecting to get much done except to plant up a couple of hanging baskets.

Hope that Heather has a good journey to Edinburgh, and enjoys her weekend. (For those not in UK, it's another Bank Holiday soon, with Monday a day off work for most).

My OH had to rescue a small frog from Bonnie yesterday, as she found one in the flower border. He moved it to another part of the garden, as she was racketing around amongst my flowers, doing damage, although I think she was just fascinated rather than hoping to eat it!

  • Here's today's pic:

"What did you say? - what does 'cute' mean?"

  • Good morning - even brighter this morning after a very hot night.  OH will be going to the church Friday Fellowship AGM this afternoon, so to keep him clean after his shower, I have pinned him down to finishing the newsletter together this morning.

HEATHER - well done with all the gardening - and for being sensible with shady breaks!  Have a wonderful weekend, and stay safe!

LINDA - good to know your newest next door neighbour has arrived.  I will email George to ask how he is.  Great to have a Frog in the garden - haven't seen one here for a while, though I await what is revealed under the deck when the old one is ripped up!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • We've had frogs here for some time. Mainly they appear near to the water butt, of course, where I've made puddles when filling my watering cans. A few weeks ago I lifted a flower tub which was placed in the middle of a border, and three tiny frogs leapt out from under! I put the tub back and later replaced it with another pot so that they could go on hiding underneath in a hole that Bonnie had dug previously.

Sunny already here, will go and find the sun umbrella!

    That'll make it rain!

[/quote]I expect so!  Not put the umbrella up yet, as its too windy in the garden, anyway.  Are you having new decking?

I've been pulling weeds, where do they all come from overnight?  Also cutting back some things which are threatening to take over the paths. We only have a small garden, but if we don't keep it tidy it soon looks overgrown. I do have a lot of plants, as my mother put a lot of things in when she moved here (it was fairly bare at the time except for the fruit trees) and we have added quite a lot of the plants that we like, too.  I agreed with my mother when she said that if you had a lot of plants, there was less room for the weeds to grow, so my borders are very full.

  • Yup - new deck (by same fence man) next month - first week in June, so I am not sure if that starts next week of the week after.
