As CLARACH 2R(13) from the DYFI Osprey Project has settled on the FCS Aberfoyle's main nest for the last week or so, it is probably best that there be a dedicated thread for Aberfoyle.
ABERFOYLE WEBCAM LINK - It operates between the hours of 09.30 am to 5.30 pm.
THE LODGE AT FOREST VISITOR CENTRE - Facebook Page where you will find current information and also historic info on the project.
Some history of Clarach's return to Wales - CLICK ON THE PHOTO TO TAKE YOU TO the excellent blog about her return.
Lets hope Clarach settles here, lays eggs and generally has a successful season.

SheilaFE said:Has he ever done a general change-over, without bringing in a fish?
Not that I have seen Sheila.
I've seen 3 fish today and these have been the only times he has incubated. The moment she returns, he's off. Also as I mentioned earlier, I have seen no nest material nor any mating.
Perhaps one egg, one chick with luck, will be a good learning curve for her, and will set the pair up for next year.

Karen - I was surprised Clarach brought back so much of the fish. MrC (or is it too early to give this male a name?) took it very quickly and flew straight off... Does make me think of the way Aran gave 5F a fish and when that was returned, immediately delivered it to MrsG.
At least Clarach has lovely weather on this very exposed looking nest - would love to see MrC bring in sticks and moss for her.
She was looking up as she resumed incubation so perhaps MrC was nearby eating the fish

Tiger and Chloe's Osprey Info
Hi Birdsong - yes, he did snatch it and it was as quick as he could get off the nest.
Clarach, bless her, is also very quiet. She really needs to give him an earful lol
But I think we are all beginning to see the lack of bonding here. Hopefully it will come.
She's due to lay a second egg today. Let's hope that prods Clarach's mate into a little more mate-like behaviour!
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Yes all eyes will be on the Webcam this afternoon, I hope the system can cope LOL.....
We can only wait and see what happens here, I for one hope that it works out alright for Clarach, we are only seeing a very small part of their behaviour, the webcam is not on 24 hours a day so we don't know what is going on and also is everyone watching every single minute of the day, I don't think so, its a privilege to be able to see a new relationship start on screen, lets just sit back and see how it progresses, hopefully well.
Aberfoyle posted this screenshot on the 28th April of Clarach on the Cam Post which shows more of her surroundings.

QUOTE
Clarach: We've seen increasingly strong pair bonding between Clarach and her new unringed mate. We don't see him much, but he may well be perching just off camera and out of view. He's been bringing Clarach fish back and incubating while she flies off to eat.

Ems predicts a second egg at 1645 today!
Birdies LG DU update.
Camera up. Clarach incubating. Egg partly hidden now by new nest material.
Yes the nest is taking shape now Mike. Another lovely sunny day too. I should not be here LOL...
