Well as predicted it all started on the 16th March with the arrival of LM12 at Loch of The Lowes. He was about nine days earlier than last year. There then started a rush of ospreys arriving. It looked as if they would all be back very quickly.
However it then all slowed down and for days there were very few ospreys returning. The clue was that the tracked female 30 (05) was making slow progress in France.
Anyway EJ and Odin are both now back. As are LM12 and LF15 at Loch of the Lowes.
Both the males White YA and Yellow 37 are back at Kielder. as is Mrs YA. The female at nest 3 is back there too.
Mrs G arrived on 22 March.
Blue 24 arrived at Dyfi on 24 March and 5F at Glaslyn on 29 March.
The Manton Bay pair if Maya and Blue 33 arrived early too.
So most of the big names are back and only a few left to arrive but they are not expected yet.
So a season to enjoy.

Thanks, Karen. That article deserves wider publicity - it might hopefully bring understanding to many people on all the implications of intervention. I believe the staff and volunteers at all the osprey sites do a great job - they really care about the birds and their welfare, while defending their natural way of life with all its difficulties. Life isn't always pretty or comfortable ...
