Good Morning, All. Sun through my window, bright and cheery. Just seen the snow which has fallen in Scotland!
Must dash about today, as our Eldest is coming to stay with us tonight, just briefly. This afternoon I'm hoping to get to the cinema with Friend.
Have a good day, everyone.
Here's today's pic:

Good morning, all. It's a beautiful day here and I have just read that Martin McGuinness has died. I'd better not try to find words.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
-- Best to say nothing, Clare.
Lovely sunny morning here, but a chilly wind. There is less noise now that the nearby driveway is finished, but they've lit a bonfire at the house up the road! Ugh!
Hello everyone ... I think I am about ready to stop lurking and rejoin the world! I have found the last few weeks incredibly hard ... but I think I am over the worst. I have to say a big "thank you" to Heather ... the things you wrote about your feelings were a huge help to me ... I am now through the 'fog'! Obviously I still have bad days but not so many ... I had a total meltdown last week brought about by geese!! I was standing at the conservatory door and I heard, and then saw, a huge high-flying skein of pinkfoot heading north ... one of OH's favourites ... cue floods of tears!
Enough about me.
Clare ... I am loving your photographs and captions ... they have cheered many a dark moment.
Sorry to read the news of OG's continuing hospital stay ... and without Wi-Fi ... a nightmare.
Lovely sunshine here but blowing a gale and bitterly cold.
I have been reading everyone's news but too much for individual replies ... looking forward to LIndybird's holiday photographs.
Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts ... I hope to post more regularly from now on.
EDIT ... I did the BBC quiz and was also put in Craven ... worst place for me was the London borough of Newham ... totally agree!! ... I have to say I wouldn't want to move from Northumberland.

Djoan -- welcome to Craven! - together with some of the rest of us! LOL!!
Glad to hear that you feel you're now ready to stop lurking. The nice thing about writing on here is that you can put as much and as often, or as little as you like. I would have cried to see the geese, myself. They are so beautiful, they often move me incredibly in a way that not many things can. I hope things get better for you as the year goes on.
I'm still here, if you've noticed..... I should just now be arriving at the cinema having met my Friend on the way. We were going to see "Beauty & The Beast" but I had to ring her and call it off as I've felt rather out of sorts since getting up today. Not sure what ails.... but I'm still able to potter around and get things ready for our Eldests arrival this evening.
Morning all:
Djoan: Hurray for feeling like rejoining the world - we're happy to see you and, as Lindybird says, no pressure to respond. Re relocating, I really have begun to hate cities (Paris excepted).
Lindybird: Smart to preserve your energy. I suspect Beauty and the Beast will be around awhile.
Raining here. Perfect! Have trundled all my potted plants out from under the eaves and patio to enjoy some "real" water.
Just a few words before going to prepare my evening meal. This afternoon it has been snowing for about two hours but it isn't lying but it is a very cold wind. Took my car in as there seemed to be a bit of heat when you touched the back wheels and it seems that the brakes are not coming off properly. He is going to order some parts to try and fix it so I won't need to get new callipers.
I forgot to mention yesterday that we have a pair of whales cavorting about in the Forth and quite a lot of people have seen them and there has been photographs in the local papers of them breaching.
It has stopped snowing now.

Seems odd that you have snow up in the north, when we have had a relatively sunny day, George. Although the wind is cold.
Hope you can get your car sorted out. These things are always more expensive than they sound, by the time the final bill comes in! Thanks for news of the whales - we don't hear about them here. It must be tempting to stare at the sea, just in case you see one!
Annette: I agree, I hate most cities now. Avoid them where possible. Luckily here we can get shopping in the huge shops outside the city, and we only go into Manchester to see a show or a concert, never otherwise.
Started looking at my hol pics: here is a nice sunset on our second evening, although not dramatic, it was very pretty:

And here is a different puss, sitting in the garden most late afternoons, no doubt hoping for something to eat (but we don't feed the cats)
