Birdies LG DU update.
Wonderful photos from Darren, thank you Mary for posting.
Thank you Mary and Darren. Stunning pictures as always!
Your very welcome Mike, Starling and Roberto.
I am looking forward to hearing news of a hatching at Balgavies, even if it is only one chick that will be just great.
Any chick that hatches and survives to fledging is a tiny miracle that we witness every year.
Darren was at the Loch last night, the new female was chasing crows while Green BF was incubating.
Here is a lovely photo of her.

She has those two little white spots above her nose a bit like dear Dai Dots.
Fabulous photos - you feel as if you can touch her.
Darren was at the Loch last night and has done his report on the BALGAVIES LOCH OSPREYS FACEBOOK PAGE
There has been a couple of reports that there are 1 or 2 chicks, but he sees no evidence of chicks at this time. Incubation would have had to started around 20th April for there to be chicks on the 28th May (when reported) - and there was no sign of incubation taking place until 2nd May.
Anyway I am looking forward to seeing some photo's of the chicks when they do appear.

I saw no sign or behaviour from the female or male to make me think there was a chick / chicks

A great photo of the male Green BF

Thanks Mary. I saw both birds standing upright on the nest or perched nearby when I visited the first time on the 1st of May, so I too believe that claims of chicks already hatched were inaccurate. It was possibly some egg rolling misinterpreted as parental care.
Darren is an excellent photographer and achieving such stunning results also implies good knowledge of his subjects' habits, I 100% trust him.
