The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
Thank you all. Great series MC.
However...as dawn breaks......

This may or may not work. Like every other video I have tried to watch on my tablet, I can't play it, but from the word of the blog I think this is the video with the bucket!!

Sheila - Your video link works fine and thanks very much for finding and posting it.
I can't recall ever having read about it or perhaps I have just completely forgotten about the bucket! Thanks Mary for remembering about it - amazing.
Quick check on the nest - no EGs or anything else around. Wide angle cam still not up but plenty time!
We just have to be patient until our stars return.
I think the earliest Maya has returned has been the 17 March. So realistically, in as little as another week, we could see her back!

When I 'logged on' a short while ago, it looked the same as it had during the night - just the one cormorant in the same place :o I didn't notice it fly...
Ah, it flew just before 1230hr:
I don't think this cam is up to its full quality yet.
