The purpose of this thread is for recording the season’s day to day activity at the Manton Bay nest thus freeing up the Rutland Osprey Project 2017 thread for general news on all the other birds, nests and projects.
For anyone new following Manton Bay, Maya and Blue 33(11) have been the resident pair for the last two years and to date have raised six chicks. More details about the nest and a table of the breeding data can be found here. Last season Maya returned on the 21 March and Blue 33(11) arrived a few days later on the 27 March.

I am sure I speak for us all in wishing Maya and Blue 33(11) a safe journey home and for another successful season at Manton Bay.
But it's ENS now.
The above failed to post, you can see when from the timeline.
Now this is the situation (or was, as Blue33 has flown):

Hi Patily.
Hi MIKE They have both flown
Morning all and thanks for all the earlier posts.
Both on the nest just now and Maya is nibbling at something ... it is not a fish, a bit bark?

Oh my goodness .... more straw has been brought in since I looked this morning. The nest is overflowing :-D
Then a mating attempt. Maya must be finding it hard to balance on all the straw! (missed a capture)
33 then takes off and returns with a stick
They place the stick and 33 takes off again returning with a clod followed by a scrape
He is off again :-)
Good morning Karen. Thanks for all the pictures. 33 is great at building huge nests.
